(DEAD)
Update #2: The PM to Fry's stores and Outpost.com for $49.99is currently dead.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Best Buy Stores are selling the Maxtor 80GB 8MB Hard Drive (#298702) for $59.99 after a $30 MFG MIR and a $20 Best Buy MIR, Staples.com is selling the HD for $109.98, have Staples PM the after rebate price of a Best Buy store. First buy the HD on-line using a $20 off $100 Staples coupon, wait about 10 minutes then call Staples CSR (1-800-333-3330 option #2) and ask to PM your local Best Buy store by giving the CSR the phone # to the store (check first to make sure the store has the HD in stock).

If you don't want to order the drive on-line first you can just call in and request the PM to the Best Buy price, but you will have to use a $10 off $50 and pay $10 more.

(Do not let them try to PM to Bestbuy.com, that will not work, when you call tell them want to PM to your local Best Buy store and you have have the phone # to that store and that you have just call the store and they verified the $59.99 after rebate price and that the drive is in stock. I repeat Do not let them try to PM to Bestbuy.com.)

Here's the deal:

$109.98 *Staples Maxtor 80GB 8MB Hard Drive (#499949)
-$55.00 *PM to Best Buy Store (110% of $109.98 - $54.98 = $55)
-----------
$54.98
-$20.00 *Staples coupon $20 off $100
-----------
$34.98 *final cost + taxes

Sometimes they do it, Othertimes they don't, which is why it's handy to have a $10 off $50 ready.

On a side note. Now the $30 rebate shows up on bestbuy.com. Just gotta wait for the other $30 to show up before I take the plunge.

BestBuy has Free Shipping on all orders right now

For a limited time, receive free ground shipping on all online orders. If you choose an enhanced shipping option, such as next-day or second-day, your final shipping cost will be reduced by the amount of the ground shipping cost to your location. Best Buy reserves the right to end or change this offer at any time. Offer varies for orders placed at the in-store i-Stations; see details in store.

I know it is only Ground Shipping.. but it might help somehow?

You do not PM to the bestbuy.com, you only PM to your local Best Buy store. Read "how to" info in the first post.

Note, folks, staples has two drives at 109.99.. make sure you select the correct one

Got shot down on first attempt... stored closed, best buy.com has no $50 rebate listed... etc etc..

Called back, got a nice gentleman that knew exactly what to do and was totally on the ball..

Impressive..

Mysticman, you've done it again!

First off, this is a repost just using BestBuy instead of Fry's.

Original Post

Secondly, three different CSRs tried to charge me shipping because I didn't have a Staples in my area, even though I have a Fry's right up the street.

Third, good luck using the $20 coupon after rebate. Never worked for me.

Fourth, there's another thread about this same drive on bigwallet with the coupon codes for you.

So...since this a different PM scenario, doesn't that technically make it another deal? Not everyone has Fry's in their area anyway. Third, don't be trying to make MysticMan look bad. He's posted way more deals than you have. We all appreciate his finds and efforts.

Mystic, if i were to buy 2 of these drives, would i do the same procedure of buy from staples.com, apply the coupon, then call CSR and ask to pricematch? And how do they pricematch if i've already checked out and had the drives charged to my card?

Just looking for a little clarification on how to get 2 of these drives for this incredible price.

Holy crap. I got a kickin' rad Staples CSR.

Gave him my order # and he said "Let me guess. Pricematch to Best Buy?" I was like "Yes please!" "Okay, I'll take care of that for you. Hold on a sec."

Big  to Staples for this one. My first pricematch too!

I just attempted the PM (this is my first time)- this is what happened...
.ordered hdd off staples.com
.waited ~10 min
.called 18003staple
.talked to shawn who couldnt do the PM cuz the rebates are "instore only..?"

So I asked him to cancel the order and he did... should I try to do this again or am I better off waiting for the next hot deal?
