From what I can gather, the Made in Malasia drives are BenQ, and a firmware update will allow them to be update to dual format.

The Made in China drives are Cyberdrives.
Does anyone know if these drives support dual format?

Opps forgot to add that I read the review on the Cyberdrive, but still couldn't determine if it supports dual format.

It looks like there is an update for the Cyberdrive, but again, it doesn't seem to indicate if that will update the support to dual format.

FWIW, as to the CD reading/burning capabilities of the BTC (I've got the Pacific Digital version, with 0055 firmware), I've succesfully made a backup of my MS Flight Simulator 2004 using it. MSFS 2004 uses SafeDisc 2.90.040.

Not too bad guys...

Is your MicroAdvantage drive missing any software?

I found this page on the MicroAdvantage website. It infers that drives sold at OfficeMax may be missing the software.

Has anyone ran into this problem?

Is it true that Micro Advantage drives cannot burn 4x DVD+R at 8x?

I recieved my MicroAdvantage drive with 3 software discs that i'm prolly not gonna use...Roxio Easy CD/DVD 6, photosuite 5 (i use nero...and photoshop), and Cyberlink PowerDVD XP (which i already had)

I hope they will come out with a firmware that unlocks the burning speed to the maximum. It seems that 0055 doesn't do that because i just did it, and it didn't let me burn at 8x for a 4x media.

Oh, and i just found This post which contains a link to v055b2 firmware which allows bitsetting...which is important for some.

as for the 4x media at 8x, wally...thats something that we will have to wait for in future firmware, or get true 8x discs.
