Read the license agreement. You cannot legally use these products after a year unless you renew the Action Pack subscription. The license is over when the agreement is over.Originally posted by: DeaDSOuLz
Actually You can still use these products after a year, you just won't get anymore free updates for them after the 12 month period is up.
You can download nearly all hotfixes, security patches, service packs, and critical updates without touching Windows Update and without regard to what products you own. With few exceptions (service packs being one of them) those things you've downloaded will install regardless of the license status of the product ID.Originally posted by: dealmaker
So in plain english, you cannot download any service packs/hotfixes/critical updates from windowsupdates.com after the year unless you resubscribe?

This is a bit disturbing, so anyone getting this under their company name, listen up:
The Action Pack subscription is good for ONE PER COMPANY PER ADDRESS. If you order one under your company name, they'll ship you the software, but everytime you activate the software, it'll use up one of the company's total licenses. You could really screw up your IT dept if you're doing this for yourself For instance, if your IT dept has 5 licenses left for WinXP, and you order an AP subscription at the same address and install it three times on your home PC's, your IT dept will only have 2 licenses left. They'll get activation problems when installing the software that they thought they had.
You could say "Well, I'll just have it shipped to another address." The address you put in will become registered as a mailing address for the company and show up on the web site, so that's not a good idea either.
I just wanted people to be aware of this so they don't end up getting fired

When you activate one of the product IDs that comes with the Action Pack, the activation is subtracted from that product ID. It has nothing to do with any product IDs your company may have already acquired and be activating.
Besides this, any company doing any kind of volume buying from MS will be using a corporate product ID that doesn't require activation.
AND besides that, it is ***so*** easy to register as a Microsoft Partner, that someone buying for themselves should not bother trying to buy the AP under their company name. And that's all I'm going to say about that.

Multiple orders of the Action Pack? Not possible per MS:Originally posted by: Fritzo
I was told by the MS rep I called that the product ID's that were issued are linked to the company's shipping address. Multiple orders would be linked together, so one address can never have more than 10 lisences from the pack. After learning this, I was a bit concerned that if people get this for their own personal use, they might get in trouble if they use their company name to sign up under.
I myself enjoy MSDN bliss

Q: Can my company have unlimited subscriptions?
A: No. Each company is limited to one (1) subscription per physical mailing address.
Sounds like that MS REP is due for training
Well I'm just a newbie, I hadn't noticed the prohibition on coupon codes until just now. A whole bunch of senior members, lifers, diamond members didn't seem to care, and coupon codes are posted just about anywhere else. What exactly is the reason for banning coupon codes here?Originally posted by: Joe221
I'm confused. Yes this is a great deal, but I thought coupon codes were forbidden here? Is it that it's MS and not Staples, does that make the difference?
Good thing my coworker ordered his on Tuesday. He got in just in time it appears.Originally posted by: TheToOTaLL
BTW, this deal is now dead - the promo code is no longer valid. I told a friend of mine about it, and he wanted to jump on the deal, but had to pay the $99. Never let a good deal pass you by

Just out of curiosity, those who have received their pack, when did you order. I ordered quite a while ago but have yet to receive mine. I've email them, guess I will have to call. Also, I just tried to order another pack here at work and it tells me the promotion code has expired. Anyone have another code?
Thanks!
I ordered sometime in the last week or so, and I just got mine today.Originally posted by: adsouthpaw
