I would guess, probably because they didn't actually charge you for real. Preauthorizations drop off after the real charge doesn't come. (the "charge" is just to check your funding source).

I ordered mine on the Tuesday after Cyber Monday and my arrival date is supposed to be the 19th or 20th. I wonder how many orders they received and whether they'll actually be able to fill them.

Seems some others in the 8800GT deals thread had thers cancelled by Dell.

I'm sort of afraid to even call them and find out. Mine that i ordered on 11/24 still says in production while others say different.

I ordered the XFX on 11/26 early in the morning, I had a ship date of 12/11. I just got off with Dell chat, my new ship date is slated for 12/24. My order page still says 12/11 and the CSR said that the date won't change until after that date passes which is why it still shows 12/11. Looks like I will be cancelling soon

just used dell chat to speak to somebody about my msi 8800gt, they have none in stock, and do not know when they will get them in stock, they said they will no more next week if they will be able to fulfil the orders or not, but they actually suggested i cancel !

They do this quite often. I am talking to Dell right now to confirm what the above poster said.

Just yesterday I called and the CSR said on or before 12/12 and even upped my shipping to next day. Granted, she could have been an idiot that didn't know what she was talking about. I really want to get my two cards in ASAP but $175 difference is just too much to bear.

I'm thinking about calling in again today to check and then proceed to b***h and moan until I get something more out of it before I actually have to cancel

I ordered the MSI 8800GT OC back on 11/29 from Dell for $207+tax and had it shipped to my work. Order was confirmed the next day and said it should ship out around 12/14. I got an email late last night saying my card had been shipped! I get to work this morning and shortly after DHL drops off a package for me. As soon as I got a spare moment I tore into the package. And what I saw I could not believe. An EVGA 8800GT Superclocked Edition was sitting before my eyes! Wh00t!!! Santa came early this year! I'm assuming since they were out of stock they sent me the next best thing they had in stock. Hopefully there are others out there that will be as lucky as me.

Why would an order placed on the 29th get shipped before an order placed on the 24th?!! That's really crappy of Dell. I'm going to be really pissed if they've just been yanking our chains all this time and end up canceling orders.

I did an online chat a little earlier and was told that mine is still scheduled to ship by the 12th and it was recommended that I wait 10 more days and if nothing has changed by then and they don't have stock that I should cancel at that point.

Spoke with an online rep just now. Told me again that my shipment was upgraded to Next-Day. Also told me that my estimated ship date was pushed back to 12/19 (ordered on 11/27, original ship date was 12/12). SIGH! I went on and on to complain about the inconvenience I was caused and he offered to compensate me with $25 on my order. I suppose, that's cool to a certain extent
