Dead MSI

Well, I changed my MSI K8N Neo2 Platinum for an AsRock 939Dual-Sata2 I use the AsRock but got lousy timings for my Ram so, I put back my MSI but I didn?t boot!, just dead, what I do now?, what I said to MSI for the RMA?, Any suggestion?, What could be?, somebody else has had this problem?

I tried clearing the bios, unplugging the PS, changing Video Card, Ati AIW 9600 pro, GeForce 2, GeForce 6800 ultra, no one change anything. The LEDs in the back shows that the Microprocessor is damaged but don?t I try with different microprocessor and get the same result, both work. Tried with 3 different Power Supply nothing.

Hope someone could help me.

Try booting out of the case, if this is a new install.

Move the RAM around or try to boot with only one stick.

I had that same board and I had the same problom, I moved the RAM and it posted.

I try with one Dimm in all the slots, but nothing, I think that I will try to RMA the MB, and yes MSI rocks; now I hope that their customer service rocks too.

Well, this just seems to be a problem with the Neo2. It works fine, then one day it's just dead.
Since the D-bracket is stopping on 4 red-LED's (I'm guessing this is what your getting since you stated it say the micorprocesor is damaged), then you'll need to return the board for RMA.

Mine did the exact ame thing (hung on 4 red LED's), but for some reason my CPU was also dead. I would try that CPU in another board before I bother RMA'ing it, but it might be dead also.

If you email MSI with a RMA request, you should have no problems getting one because they are well aware of this issue with the Neo2's, and shold give you a RMA # without hassle.

Only explanation I've heard is that some people believe i's related to RAM voltage for people trying to OC, but that defintiely wasn;t the case for me because I had yet to try and OC anything when mine died. Everything was at 100% stock.

BTW, DOA is "dead on arrival".

Thanks for the post Ike0069, fortunately my processor survives the incident, I already ask for the RMA, now I have to wait for the answer.

lol funny story, I flashed my bios this afternoon back to the first release to look at something and it wouldn't boot. after being scared to death for like 10 minutes and planning out my next move, probably buying a new board, I remembered that the older bios versions didn't like having all the memory slots occupied. I actually had to take all but one of my four out in order to get it to boot. Saw someone mention it so I thought I'd share. good luck to you npoe1

yah i am having the same problem of not being able to post. it says the processor is damaged. i am running 3200 venice and its barnd new retail. Should i just go ahead and rma my motherboard???
