I don't think there is a $30 MIR. When I spoke on the phone, the person told me the rebate was located at http://www.howto.com Ummmm, ok. Then she told me to go to the Maxtor webpage, but it's not there either. Anyways, I called a few hours later and just PMed it with CompUSA. No rebate hassles to deal with, very nice!

Until someone shows me a $30 MIR for this, it's warm at best. 80gb Western Digital SE's can be had for $100 in FS/T. Majority of them with what's left of a 3 year warranty.

If Staples posts a $30MIR next week can we apply it to the drives we buy this week?
It seems like Staples posts Rebates for Very langthy time frames,I would think since these's Drives are spanking *NEW* they would start the MIR for those who bought the drive NOW
What do you guys think?
I have been "QUOTED" the $99.99 PM price from Staples NOW and so I am getting my sister Involved so I can get (2) for a *Smokin* RAID 0+1 ARRAY:Q Igot in on the WesternDigital 80GB SE drives from CUSA $79 PM to CC 110% @ $73.99 a Drive Bought (2) Total $156.94 out the Door 3year Warranty
These New Maxtors will make a Fine 160Gb of PURE SMOKIN (STRIPPING)
While the SE's will be make for a Fine 160Gb of Pure (MIRRIORING)
Thanks to these FORUMS I Now have a fat "ULTRA"*"SPECIAL EDITION"setup for a "HOTDEALS PRICE" Cheers
Bumps to JETninja for making this PM setteld Finally *!*
$162 or so for (2) ATA133 8mb is HOT to ME so take a potential $60 in MIR is even HOTTER!

If they actualy do post a rebate next week, it will be for a specific period of time like Compusa rebate. So it won't honor previous purchase. Just my guess.
But you could try for 20.00 rebate, which isn't metioning anything about the model, if you use the form in staples site.

Thats what I'm saying that Rebate is for like "Ever" isn't it like for a 3 month period? So wouldn't Staples want to Honor the first of a NEW product out the door on a Rebate Comming up?

Did the online thing - denied. I'll try again!

EDIT: 17:13PST... got through on the online thing and Krista did an aweome job!
From that chat:
"The total of your order including tax is $77.78. Pending credit approval
this order will be delivered 11-21 by UPS between 9-5."

Price matched to $99.xx and used the coupon without adding anything else .

You've also got to think, the Pricematch is what's making this deal potentially HOT. When CompUSA stops offering the $99.99 after rebate price, you will no longer to be able to pricematch. So you better hope that Staples releases the MIR soon. If the Staples rebate comes out after the CompUSA rebate is over, then it will be the same price as purcashing it right now.

reading all these posts is confusing

ok so PM to cusa brings the price to $129
-$30 off $100 coupon code = $99+tax shipped, right?
-$30 MR = ~$78 including tax and after rebate, right?

Well I just spoke to a Staples rep and she said the $20 MIR should be accepted, she doesn't see why it wouldn't be accepted.

So the final tally for the drive is...

$139.98 PM'ed to $99.99 + $0.01 (must be $100+ to use coupon code) - $30 - $20 MIR = $50 w/o additional charges.

Some people have been charged tax, but I was charged CompUSA's S&H fee (whatever).
This truly is an incredible deal!

scored two via the chat method, for some reason, the lady would only PM to $105, I guess she included shipping or something, but I didn't argue further since it's still a pretty good deal.

However, I already used my $30 off from previous, so I decided to get two and apply 40off200 for a speedy raid

comes up to about $92 each after tax. It's a warm deal at this price I think. But if I can get a rebate too, that would be smoking.

Where is the magical "chat" feature. I've done everything you people did but don't see any chat option.

After you add it, look at the top right and click on help. After, there should be a button that says Online help, or something of that like. I forgot exactly what it says, but you can find it.

For some reason I don't have that link, maybe that's the gods telling me to hold off for the moment. I'm about to declare bankruptcy because of this forum! Good hunts to everybody.

Just got off the phone, $82 too my door. Already a good deal, and if the $30 rebate comes through it will be smoking.....

Lady I spoke to on the phone didn't know about the PM, she had to ask someone, was back in about two seconds (tacked the 8.50 shipping on, oh well). I'm really surprised they're matching Comp usa's price AFTER rebate, I thought they didn't usually do that.

Also.....isn't their policy usually no PM + Coupon?

Cheapster-

Maybe their online support is closed for the day, it is pretty late. I'd call them, it's the best way to go.

Yes, supposedly a $30 MIR comes with the drive, so maybe we can scam them like the 60gb hard drive and send in two rebates Then the final price would be $30!! Hot damn!

Did one of the CSRs tell you its coming with a $30 MIR? If this is true, then it REALLY wouldn't make any sense that they're PM'ing to comp usa's after rebate price

HELP. I have an obsession with MAXTOR drives when I see a Maxtor drive listen on anandtech I go buy it! HHahaha

I got 3 7200rpm 40 gigs, and I just bought the 80 GB!

Thanks again Cherrybomb.

The CSR at 1800 staples was really cool.

$139.. PM to $99 CompUSA added $8.50 cuz compusa adds shipping so $108.50
$30 of $100 coupon leading to $78.50, err wait
AHH what the heck the total was $78.33 you get the picture!

As far as rebates go he mentioned none, although the one on maxtor's site does exist, obviously for the older model.

So what do i Do witha ll these HDs when I can use them in my system because it only has 1 set of HD controllers.. lol

Why do you think I went out and purchased this This is one sweet deal, and plus I'm going to be sending in the $20 MIR... and maybe even the $30 MIR if it does come. If it doesn't, i won't be too disappointed at all.

Mentally compares comparison made below....

$100 for a used Western Digital SE 8MB that's slower and only has a portion of it's three-year warranty remaining....

or $100 for a new Maxtor DiamondMax Plus 9 that's faster and has it's full three-year warranty remaining....

Oh darn, I forgot the coupon - let's see.... that makes it either $80 or possibly $70 after coupon....

Is it just me, or am I missing something here????
