Edit: Also wanted to say to those complaining about prices of DVD blanks, these things hold about 7X as much data as a CDR so if you figure that CDRs go for about 15 cents each, then $1 for a DVDR is about an equivalent deal. And some folks have pointed out where you can get them for less than $1 each in bulk. So actually DVDRs are already as cheap or cheaper than CDRs when you consider the cost per storage space.

As of 4:26 am, 10/6, my order is still on track and unaltered with an estimated ship date of 10/8. I still believe everyone else about these not shipping until mid-October, though - if they even ship at all. Just in case, I've already bought 20 DVD-rewritable (10 "-" and 10 "+") discs at Micro Center (after PMing CompUSSR's sale price and covering my a** with MC's 30 day returns policy - since CUSA's 14 days is cutting it a lil' close) since Dell can be tricky.

(I ordered through Small Business later, after the 10/1 deal...it'd be interesting to see if they axe both - even though they use the same warehouse, one would think Small Bus. would garner a little higher priority)

I've been having the same thoughts. I got ActionTech controller, and actually never used it.
Are there any good and not expensive enclosures that have both FireWire and USB 2.0 ?

No, there shouldn't be tax for Dell Home to Minnesota. I've been ordering stuff from Dell Home for more than a year w/o any tax! Never!

I just called dell and their CSP told me that there's a strike with the peeps at the shipping company. So our drives are just sitting at some dock in California. The new date, oct 11, would be the ship date if they manage to get those drives by plane from the coast.

PS shout out to all you anandtech'ers who hunt down good deals day and night so that i can burn a hole in my wallet

If they can't ship anything how did you get yours? I have a hard time believing Dell is having shipping problems...one day without shipping would hurt them tremendously.
