Well, it sounds like the strike is on a temporary break (30 days) and Bush is trying to use federal strike-breaking laws to keep the ports open until after Christmas. So maybe we'll finally be getting our drives. It no longer gives an estimated ship date for mine but last I saw it was October 11. Given the number of boats that need to be unloaded, it'll likely be another week before the drives actually ship. Hopefully Sony stuff is on one of the first boats unloaded and we'll get our drives quicker.

I now have two on order. The first one came in at $268.70 through small business, but I was able to get the 2nd ordered for $243.56 through home.

The first one was to be shipped on or before Oct. 8th (today). I never got any e-mails changing my shipping date, but when I got home today, there was a phone message from Dell! :Q

Shipping on or before Oct. 15th is what they are telling me now. It will be interesting to see what they have to say for the shipping date of the 2nd unit.

Great deal guys. 10% off by default and 10% extra off with the code for small businesses. A better deal than the 15% off for normal household purchases. I can't believe you guys are worried about claiming to have a business or not! Can you be serious?? Dell couldn't give a shiat one way or the other. As for shipment. Mine says it will be going out on the 15th. I'm patient. Especially with this kind of a deal I'm getting for such a great freakin drive!

When you copy DVD's, you have 3 choices. Which choice you pick depends on the size of the movie:

1. If the DVD is <4.38GB......you can make a perfect copy

2. If the DVD is >4.38GB, but the actual movie is <4.38GB.....You can rip just the movie and copy just the movie to a DVD

3. If the DVD is >4.38GB, and the actual movie is also >4.3GB, you have 2 choices:
-3A......Split the movie onto 2 DVD's
-3B.....Rip the movie to your harddrive. Re-encode the movie at a lower bitrate so it will fit on 1 DVD. You will losing some quality.


Choice 1 only works for older hollywood movies, most anime's, and most movies that were never released in theaters. Choice 2 works for most newly released Hollywood movies that are <90min. Choice 3 is required for most newly released Hollywood movies that are >90min.

These are pretty much your choices, until they come out with DVD Burners that support dual layered discs.
