I am in williston vermont, another AT'er saw them in upstate new york... if they made it this far north i would assume that other parts of the country have them already, consindering that vermont seems to be the last state to get anything

Anyone know when the external version will be available? I know the external will be retailing at $450 but has anyone heard if it's on sale yet?

Babbadu,

In other words, you lied about the price at Dell? Congratulations on getting away with a fast one... I don't know if it's something that I'd be proud of though. I like good deals but I'm not willing to lie and deceive to get them.

Anyone who gets this, how about a review? I can't seem to find any on the net.

Also, how does it work with Apple's DVD Studio Pro 1.2 and Toast, if anyone's buying it for their Mac machine?

How could you say that it wasnt legit, i was able to order one from dell for 241 plus tax. There policy staes that if you find a lower price anywhere they will be glad to match it...I didnt lie to circuit city.... at one point they were legitmately selling the drive for 241 plus taxes. This price is signicantly lower than circuit city and its there policy. I told them flat out what i was gonna do and they could care less. Thats their problem, not mine. These people are the same theives who ripped off my mom and lied to her when a dvd player was advertisied with a surround sound system and they would not giving her the dvd player. I work in retail and know how everything works. Please dont jump down my back over something as trivial as this.

-As far as a review goes, i am just waiting to get some media then i can post a review later...

I dont know how they checked dell and didnt see the price. It's $348 now- 15% is Which is around $296 in the cart.

But a very good buy anyway. Im heading to my circuit city now. And hopefully dell will ship mine so i can return it. Circuit city burned me once to.

I ordered it on 10/1. Now dell says it can't ship before 10/23 and needs my consent to continue the order! :disgust:

Hope I get it soon.

As much as I wanted to grab this Sony, I am going to just wait a while longer to see how the new Pioneer is. I have the 103 and have been very happy with it. Has anyone actually used the Sony yet and if so, what do you think of it?

You may have gotten the drive for $241 after using a Dell coupon, but that was never Dell's price on the drive. Do you really think CC should have to match Dell's coupons? If you read CC's policy, you'll see that they are only supposed to be matching to "local stores" anyways, not online retailers. And when you did your "pricematch" yesterday, the Dell price was $348 - 15% ~ around $295 roughly. I don't really care what you do, but call it for what it is... you scammed CC. I'm tired of people defrauding stores and calling it a Hot Deal.

Lay off guys... he didn't steal anything... If CC's employees are so stupid to let him do it.. then good for him. We all make a habit out of pricematching and rebates and coupons. All he did was ask for a pricematch and he was lucky enough to get it.

Leave Bubbadu alone. Maybe he made a mistake by including the coupons, but it's not as if the big chains always uphold their end of the pricematching agreement all the time either. People around here do shady things around here all the time. Pricematching with a American Express BVG even though the item they bought had a rebate, pricematching retail against an OEM, and considering that a large percentage of the people who bought these drives want to know how to copy DVD's from Blockbuster, I say layoff the guy unless you're going to start railing on everyone who does something you don't like on this board.

Exactly!!! It's not like they couldn't check themselves. When I last did a pricematch with CC, they gave me a hard time, and I was pricematching another CC!! How in hell is what this guy did wrong?

Right, and if he puts an item in his jacket and they are so stupid to let him do it, then good for him. Its only wrong if you get caught.

I completly agree with the three posts above... i obsiousvly didnt steal the drive, i am a honest person. I work in retail and as most of you know staples. How many posts are on this board saying that staples will not charge for shipping and then take a coupon?.. thats like 70% of the deals on this board. At my store its not really an issue, but when it is i always take care of the customer. Well thats what circuit city did last night and i am definlty going to shop there again. I have caught several people in the act of stealing and have always gone out of my way to stop them. I gave them numerous chances and they never checked. I think we should leave it at that. There is no need to make a huge deal over something as trivial as a dvd burner. I see hundreds of these same types of deals on this board and NOONE jumps down there backs and these are for hundreds of dollars. If you are gonna go after me, go after everyone else too.

No, the difference is that taking an item without paying for it is stealing. Asking Circuit City if he can pay $100 less for the drive and them saying yes... that's just brilliant.

Exactly. I bought a receiver from ABC Warehouse last year. It retailed for $899. I told them I would pay $500...they said fine. Did I steal from them?

He lied/cheated/decieved to get that $100 off. He found someone who was TRUSTING and he abused it. Either that store or that person was generous and trusting and he took advantage of him/the store. Its nice that a CSR can be that trusting of a person, but its people who lie/cheat/decieve that make it harder for honest people to do a return or pricematch that is legit.

My biggest problem isnt even that he did it himself, its that he encourages others to do the same in his post.

Now we have an ethical thread in addition to an all-time 43 PM requests for a measely $25 coupon.

BTW can we just buy the drive at bestbuy or compusa (for those of us waiting for our dell order to ship)
and then use it for 30 days then return it? Is there a restocking fee. I plan on just putting the un-opened software
from the dell sony drive. Only thing is we're screwed if dell takes longer than 30 days for us to get the drive.

compusa is 15% restock for 15 days i think.

if its unopened thats another story, but your banking on dell shipping a full retail package with appropriate sku's

i hope they dont charge too soon, i just ordered a 1900fp and my checking account is getting pretty skimpy

I got in on this on 10/4 and dell.com says that my dvd burner is delayed until 10/23...although my coupon has shipped...

Has anyone tried to use any burnt dvds with the Apex AD-1500 that was really cheap a while ago? I was wondering if I should buy just any media or if I needed anything specific.
