I ordered mine an hour or so before my daughter and hers shipped a day or two before mine. She lives about 70 miles away from me. Both shipped form Jacksonville FL.

So, they're supposed to set-up their system to hold onto orders til an item is in stock for specific customers?

No, they have to charge for order regardless whether they have it in stock, tell the customer it will be shipped in 24-48hrs, and then don't ship the item, don't send any updates, and keep the money for weeks until the customer comes back asking for status.

So NewEgg shafted you too? My order no longer exists in their system. I'm going to go leave a negative review on ResellerRatings.com for NewEgg. I've left a positive in the past but this is poor customer service. I just figured this out today (and came back to this thread) and I still can't believe they actually pulled this on us.

When I ordered the VX on 11/28/2008 7:xx:xx PM, the NE site showed it 'in stock'. Is it legal for NE to claim later on that "this item was found to not in stock" and provide a refund ?

In a word....No. They shipped several of these including two I ordered. They ran out of stock. I ordered three on seperate orders. I received two of them. They cancelled my second order and voided it. The third order I placed was shipped and processed even though it was several minutes after the order they cancelled for being out of stock. Could I contact them and tell them they were wrong for cancelling an order for being outof stock when they shipped one placed after...Sure. Would they do anything about it...I doubt it. Was it illegal, No.

I could have used the 5 they said was the maximum order for christmas presents. I'll end up giving one away as a present and holding the other back in case I need a christmas present on short notice.

I got my notification last week... Don't worry, Logitech is always good with rebates. By the way, I mailed mine to Logitech directly, instead of the rebate house that had gone bad.

I just got a notification email today but when I check the status it says invalid because: "We did not receive a rebate certificate with your request". I don't even know how to interpret that reason. I can only assume that the 'rebate certificate' is the rebate form which they obviously got because they were able to pull my email off of it...

When I call the number it's just a mess of an automated system and pounding the 0 number gets me disconnected. When I input my tracking number I'm told it's not valid. Any ideas on how to talk to a real person? I'm thinking of maybe giving it a day to see if the tracking number shows up on the phone system.

According to this site call 702-269-3457 Press 2000. I don't know how recent this is. Also here has a different number and instructions.

Let us know if either of these works. Good luck!

Got my notification yesterday. Invalid due to missing UPC which I did mail in. I called 877-755-3837 which I got from http://www.logitech.com/index.cfm/447/3469&cl=us,en
Don't remember the sequence I used but I got to the rebate submission information. At that point I was informed that my submission is invalid due to the missing UPC, and it gave me an option to talk to a human. Less than a minute later I was talking to a rep. She asked me for the UPC number... I replied that I don't have it since I mailed it with my rebate. She placed me on-hold for a minute and then told me that I'll be getting my rebate check in 4-6 weeks. The rebate status now states: "Your rebate is valid and is scheduled for final processing."

thanks for the tip, I thought of trying the gethuman site but because that number was completely different then the number I called for the rebate submission (877-755-3837) I thought I'd just give it a day and see if my tracking number would eventually trickle into the system and try that other one if not. Today my tracking number was valid so I had a similar experience as mangust, I got an option to speak with someone.

Same thing happened to me. I called, they said "did not receive a rebate certificate" and placed me on hold to verify the info. She came back and said "your rebate will be mailed in 4-6 weeks."

Sometimes, I suspect the rebate companies are simply denying these rebate with made-up excuse, and only validate them when people call them. That way they can keep their redemption rates low, especially on a small rebate like these.
