whats funny is even the REGULAR price ($199) seems to be the best price around from a quick pricegrabber search on WD1500AHFDRTL .. lol ..
And try BB for instore pickup to avoid paying shipping or waiting on backorder..

I'd kick myself in the ass if price kept coming down in the next couple of months on this.

I hereby nominate this Deal as the best deal so far in 2007. This is the lowest price around by far even with tax and shipping. My total price works out to $176.49 per drive on a drive that's selling for $229 at ZipZoomFly Too bad the drives aren't available in any stores near me for pick up.

So very, very hot.

Edit When I went to checkout, BB recalculated the sales tax and my total cost per drive rose to $191.71. Still a good deal, but not as good as I thought. Should we hold it against BB for charging sales tax while other internet retailers should but don't? The ethics are debatable but Isquared has the Raptor X for $214 with only $5.50 shipping and no tax. BB still saves you $27.29. A very good deal, but not as good as I thought. A great deal if you can save the shipping charges with in-store pickup.

I believe a store must charge sales tax for online purchases to a state if there is a retail store physically in that state.

You are correct. But even if there's no store within the state, you are technically responsible for the sales tax on any purchase you make even if the retailer does not collect it.

Wow really tempted. They also have 50 off a WD HDD if you get Windows Vista.

With Vista Ultimate Upgrade + Raptor, the total comes to 410.38 for local pickup. Should I bite?

Very hot. I didn't do the Vista upgrade as I have a coupon with my MCE.

I'm building a new computer this weekend, all of the parts have been ordered (E6400/P5B Deluxe/X1950XT/2GB Corsair PC2-800) and I was kicking myself for not getting more storage than 320GB (Seagate 7200.10) and I wanted a Raptor but Newegg was too pricey.

I bit, $182.xx with tax for me local pickup. Very very hot. You guys are amazing.

WOW! This is an amazing deal. I am not even thinking of building a new computer anytime soon, but I want one... Ugh! I should stop reading this forum, it only makes me more broke. Great find.

Now for a decision... I do have a $25 GC for BB and live in OR which has no sales tax so this would be CHEEEEP.

Thanks

Dont buy stuff unless you get a good deal on it.. or dont buy stuff unless its necessary. That way, if your PC is down and you need a PSU, that necessary purchase is always a "hot deal". Then only buy fun extra stuff if theres a sale on it.
You'll never miss a hot deal again!

Right now I have a 250GB 7200.9 in my computer. My school will provide me Vista Ultimate in April. I want a new, speedy hard drive that doesn't completely break the bank when I'm able to upgrade... and I have $125 to BB in GC. Should I bite?

Wow glad I held off on getting a 2nd a few weeks ago.

Just a heads-up though, these drives are loud and run extremely hot. Worth the performance for some, but if you're running a SFF silent or HTPC, you might want to steer clear of these. It goes anywhere from full garbage disposal-like chugging to a constant "chirp" when your PC is idling.

Also the Raptor Window is a neat feature, but pretty useless in most case installations. If you have a windowed case and a drive cage that mounts the drives vertically, then you'll be able to see the disc spinning etc. Most of the Lian Li cases have a cage like this, but it still requires some mod'ing to see the full window. The X versions window is pointless though in my Antec Nine Hundred.

May pick another one up though for a RAID 0 or just as a 2nd disk for my new rig. Very hot price though, most retailers sell these for $220+ with rebates taking them down to $200 at the lowest.

Bought a 75 gig on the $119 deal. Haven't opened it yet so I think I will swap for one of these.

I know this is a subjective question but I haven't yet had the pleasure of using a Raptor in my rig. Is the speed increase over say the 300gig 16mb WD worth the noise factor? I don't care if Windows loads 5 seconds faster......loading a game map right now is what I seek.

If you can can find the 74 gig, it's $101 now. After 12% coupon, I got mine $97 OTD.
