no you said you paid 4x680 = 2720 !!! look at the bright side, you'll get $50 back, so your total is only 2670.
Dude, do you really think I care about $50 more or less, I'm just tired of this crap, I want the card now, and can't find it anywhere

that has been the case for a long time, compusa doesn't have it either. I'm looking for anyone that has it now, don't care for "maybe will have it in 2-4 weeks", I've waited long enough !

I placed a order Monday night from here after zipzoomfly informed me the gt I had ordered from them was back ordered.

Tuesday I got the same email user1234 got and finally today (Wednesday) it shipped.

I'll have it tomorrow .

I was a little upset they charged me Tuesday and didn't ship it that day, but atleast they really do have them.

hehe, it figures they would do that, they probably got lots of orders for $420. But this behavior is ok in my book, even amazon.com changes the price day to day, based on demand and supply (unsold inventory). I'm just trying to figure out if I'll get it by Saturday - if they ship mine tomorrow (hopefully), and it's shipped 2nd day air - does that mean it will be delivered on Saturday ? (was it ups or fedex and do they deliver on Saturday ? )

compuplus can also save you the tax in most cases, plus as I mentioned you could PRICEMATCH to 399 $

how do you pricematch???

You need a credit card which has this feature, like the american express starwood card and others. They call it "best value guarantee" and basically they give you the difference if you find the same product advertised in print for a lower price. Here is the program description from the american express web site:

"Program Description
Best Value Guarantee ensures that you pay the lowest price available on covered items purchased entirely with your eligible American Express Card. Simply use the Card as you normally would, wherever American Express Cards are welcome. If within 60 days, you see an identical item to the one you purchased with the Card advertised in print (i.e., newspaper, magazine, periodical, journal, or store flyer) at a lower price than you originally paid, call 1-800-557-8317 to initiate a request for a refund. You will then be asked to send the dated advertisement, the store receipt and your record of charge to us within 90 days of your purchase. Price comparisons which are found on the Internet do not qualify under this program. We will gladly honor your request for a refund on a savings of $10 or more. Once your request is approved we'll reimburse the price difference to you-up to $250 per item excluding taxes, shipping,
and handling and limited to one refund request per item purchased. "

I have used it before, and it works pretty smoothly, but note that you need a printed ad, so you can get weekend newspaper insert of best-buy or fry's, hopefully they will advertise the pny 6800 gt in the next 60 days.

To hell with PNY. The jerks stiffed my on a cd-r rebate a couple years ago, and now they upped the price on the GT's by $100 for those who had preordered with Provantage.

PNY would practically have to give me the card now before I would try ordering one of their products again.

What? provantage upped the price all by themselves, the msrp for pny 6800 gt is still $399 (on thier website), which means they charge retailers a wholesale price which is 15-25% lower. While they could change the wholesale price by a little, it's definitely not the case with provantage. Mind you, it is perfectly ok for retailers to charge as much as they want, even above msrp, but it's not ok to change the price after taking an order, even if it's a pre-order.

the price now is up to $478 and the website still shows it's in stock. I wonder if they do not run out of stock, does that mean that there is a balance between the supply (the shipments they are getting from the ir supplier) and demand (orders from customers) at the current price? It seems that for in stock 6800 gt the current price point is between 450 and 500. Of course, if you are willing to wait on a backorder, you can get a lower price (400), but if you just wait until the supply increases the in stock price then would also be about the same, so the notion of preordering to lock in a "low" price is false, since by the time the pre-order is fullfiled, the market price (for in stock item) would be the same or lower.

Got the card today and installed it, ran benchies at stock, got 58K in aquamark and 11K in 3dmark2003. Overclocked to ultra speed (400/1100) and got 60K and 12K respecitively. Everything is 100% stable at this speed, no flicker or artifacts, and it seems to stay 55C at rest (didn't test full load temps yet). My system is A64 3200+ @2.1GHz, MSI K8T Neo, 1GB Crucial PC3200 @ 2x210=420 MHz
