Believe me, I know. When you're paying in excess of $3.00 per GB vs HD's as low as $0.05 per GB...makes you shake you head.

Cutting edge always costs more....Look at the Core I7 975 chip...at $600 for HOT deal (relatively speaking, of course).

I would love to have an ssd, but I would like to see $2/gb; maybe $2.50 at most which has been seen before. I think $250 for 120/160 gig would be a great price. I know some of the ocz's were at this price once before. I will wait till it happens again before I buy, or may wait for the next gen.

From what I've read about those, they suck. Don't come close to rated speed. Cheap enough but "stay away at any cost" type of reviews.

Should be a firmware upgrade next week for the drive (based on new Indilinx firmware) that combines both GC (Garbage Collection) and TRIM. Based on other manufacturers use of the new firmware, the drive should maintain performance much better than previous firmwares.

Is the 30GB vertex the same speed as the higher capacity models? Or at least close? I remember seeing the larger Intel drives having a significant speed advantage. Raid0 with these sounds pretty fun.

The 30 and 60GB drives are about the same speed but both are slower than the 120GB drives. With that said, these are pretty fast in Raid0 setups that I've looked at in the OCZ forums, especially the 3 and 4 drive arrays.
