I hate how monarch inflates the price

They don't stablize their pricing

They don't charge tax for California so their prices almost always beat Newegg

At least for me

Pulled the trigger on this. Now I've gotta sell my Athlon 64 3000+ (Venice) E3 stepping and find myself a HSF.

So what kind of OCs have people been getting with these? I haven't been following CPUs much lately but need to find something for my new rig.

Well, I can only speak for my cpu, but I've got a 144 with the CAB2E stepping, and I've had it up to 2.8GHz on 1.5V, now running at 2.7GHz at 1.4V. Heat production is almost a non-issue.....idles at 32C and 42-44C or so under load.

My set-up is an ASUS A8N-SLI Deluxe, 2 x 1GB Corsair XMS PC3200, Thermalright XP-90 cooling. My set-up isn't exactly the best OC'ing rig out there............the mb and RAM aren't known for heavy duty OC'ing, but I've managed to pull respectable speeds out of the cpu with it. The RAM seems to be my holdup...wish I'd been able to find some 1GB Ballistix sticks when I bought the Corsair, oh well.

how about something a little bit down to earth in pricing?

I have to admit, it's a nice board but damn, cost more than the cpu?

Thanks for the info. Looks like pretty decent performance for the price (though I guess I missed this deal, heh).

I purchased this processor, now I am debating what to get as the motherboard. I want to oc this opteron to around 2.4-2.5ghz. I was thinking of getting the cheap ASROCK 939DUAL-SATA2 ULI M1695 which has both AGP and PCI-E. I would use my AGP 9700 pro AIW for now and then get a very good pci-e(7800GT or higher when they hit my price range)later in the year. The thing that this asrock board is missing is an optical or coax audio out. I like to output the audio to my receiver. Any cheap addon cards just for optical out or coax?

I just got both of mine. Both were CACJE 0602GPMW

I just stuck both in and they both do an easy 2.7ghz on first try with stock volts with the stock amd heatpipe sink. Amazing. Which means it should do an easy 2.8-3ghz or so with more volts. Still priming, but no failures yet.

Im tempted to try 2.8ghz on stock volts next lol....

Nice. This thing is friggin amazing. Both cpus do pretty identical. But this one im using right now is still running prime95 after 3 hours at 2.7ghz on 1.35 volts. Amazing. Maybe later ill try 2.8ghz on stock volts and see how that goes.

Seems strange that I got cacje because most others were getting cab2e and those are hit or miss. Im happy I got cacje's heh. CACJE are known for being similar to the first CABNE's.

Id expect since you just placed an order, yours should be CACJE 0602GPMW as well.

Whats funny is, I actually tried to cancel my order. I dont really need these. I just have to sell them now but....Monarch had already shipped them off before I could cancel : /

Pickup a 7900GT and get the proc for $130.00! Oops my bad, didn't see shipping was included in the OP's price.
Anyhow they have a nice deal on the xfx @ 290 if you need one, plus a free copy of city of villains.

This is cheaper than it was 2 weeks ago ($142.55 shipped then)! I have the chip doing 2.97ghz @ 1.45v on air...YMMV
This should sell out quick.

What's the warranty on this? Is the only warranty the "60 Days" thing you select when you order?

Sorry, but all these Athlon 64, and Opteron threads have my head spinning and I haven't been keeping up on the new processors much.

My 3 gaming rigs are currently running Athlon XP 2500, Athlon XP 2800 and a P4 2.4B with Geforce 6800's and 1GB RAM. Will I notice a significant difference playing games like HL2 with this chip or do I need to look at something different.
