VaG, I was merely putting out some (hopefully useful) information. I don't know why you would want to be so negative about my post. I was not complaining. Some folks may not have your throwaway attitude

I went to one OfficeMax earlier and got the Brother for $69. Went to another and they would not sell it for $69, they said since it rang up at $149 instead of $179 they would only give $50 off not $80 as the coupon stated. I went back to the other store and they would not adjust the price as the manager said they should not of sold it at $69 either.

I guess I shouldn't complain as $99 was a good deal, but if the coupon says $80 off it should be $80 off regardless of what it rings up originally.

They had a sale earlier this week with the brother at $149.99, it switched back to $179.99 for today. So they are correct in this situation! Look at the flyer!

I got the Brother printer today for $69 plus tax at the Redwood City store. It was the only thing I bought. The clerk seemed proud that I was getting it at such a good price. Several stores here also had the $30 instant rebate on the item. It rang up as $179, but when the total was entered the $30 came right off.

Not many people must have taken advantage of this, they had lots of units in stock.

I bought it for my wife, but it runs faster than the HP printer I have in my office. Very clear text and quite speedy. Can't beat it for $69.

Frob!

Must confessed that I was intrigued by the $70 price even though I have had my share of Brother drum woes. Off I went to Office Max where I noticed that there were plenty in stock. Cashier then scanned the printout and then questioned the manager who just happened to be next to her. My bad luck. No discount for me, so looks like OM will be getting a return tomorrow. You win some; you lose some. For those who wish to upgrade the RAM, try using old Fast Page Mode modules. Or, try using EDO SIMMS like another user:

64MB EDO SIMM - $10

If the Kypermedia CDRW was made in Malaysia, then it should be the BenQ and may be flashable
with their software.

Check This thread for details.

I avoided getting the deal because my local OM only had the "Made in China" models.
and as good a deal as it was, I decided I needed more blank CDs instead.

I had no problem to buy one for $69 at Mountain View. The clerk just scanned the coupon, then I paid.

Nope, the one I got was made in China. Still $20 for a cd-r is fine by me.
