Getting free stuff is one thing, but making money to take stuff brings this deal to a whole new level of goodness. I'm in.

Edit: Whoops answered my own question

Any comments on the quality of the verbatim drive? I've heard they're not that great.

Well shucks, I guess I'll pass. I would've let them pay me $15 if the drive were any good. J/K!

Last time I was looking for a CD-RW, Verbatim was using Lite-ON drives, which are considered quality drives.

I own a Verbatim 40x12x48...that incidently I bought @ Staples via some rebate goodness a few months ago I love it! I've burned everything, from music cds, to a backup of a copy-protected game using disc-at-once (it was legal, honest). It flies, and burn-proof is beautiful. I've NEVER had a coaster with this drive...unlike my old 2x8 Mitsumi. Like any other drive, doing a CD to CD copy may be limited by the speed of your source drive (i can only manage 24x in this mode w/my 40X cd-rom; higher makes burn proof kick in due to data loss). Hard drive to CD @ full 40x. It's a beautiful thing... I can only wager an educated guess that the 48x speed model is of equivalent quality.

Absolutely amazing deal here, wow..:Q

One way to tell if a Verbatim is a Lite-On without opening the box is to look at the serial number sticker on the outside of the box.

Serial number of 12 digits, no letters == Lite-On.

Then again, the amount of rebadging that goes on is just incredible! I have in a box on my desk (previous deal) a Cendyne 32x12x40 carton which contains a Verbatim drive, which is itself a rebadged Lite-On!

Yeah, both Cendyne and Verbatim are slow with rebates (I'm still waiting for the Cendyne DVD-Rom rebate from OM's Black Friday deal), Hi-Val is even worse. But these checks do eventually come.

My ad shows the Cendyne 48X burner $79.99 after rebates. Someone wanna enlighten me? Where does it show the drives for $59.98?
Cendyne burned me on my last rebate. The ONLY rebate I did not copy and send certified. They said they did not receive the paperwork for 3 months (bull$hit), I sent it out within 4 days from my purchase (I remembered sending it specifically).

But ALWAYS, ALWAYS, make copies and send certified. I should have known better.

It just amazes me how sleazy these companies are, and how they will try very hard to screw you if they can. They obviously have a seperate pile for the rebate forms that come in that are NOT mailed "certified".

My ad shows Verbatim (not sure if the link will work because of stupid session ID).
In the ad they show a picture of the Verbatim, but if you look closely at the ad you can see that 3 SKU number are listed zand if and click on the link that says "Printable List" you will se the 3 different drives listed for the same $9.99 price.
