I wondering why some are regretting not upgrading the graphic card to 9700TX which is a 110+ upgrade. Isnt a Ti4200 @ 99 bucks a better deal?

After taking to the FedEx CSR using the 1-800-463-3339 RossMan gave me, I found out that when you sign-up online for a FedEx account (if you can get the registration to work), they will send you one email basically like a pre-order confirmation, they just acknowledged that I signed up. In that email they promise you another email and in that email that I am yet to receive will contain my 9 digit FedEx account number (the CSR says it should take about a day to get your account number email). Hope that helps!

This thing comes with 8 USB 2.0 port. I really wonder how many you guys are going to use. Basically, the thing will be tied up with wires if you use 8 usb product.


And the Fedex acct number will take at least a day to get to you so dont sweat it.

Does dell use propietay RIMM's in their machines (only their "special" memory works in the machine and none from 3rd party vendors)

Can you access the BIOS in dell machines (I cannot with my old p3 dell machine)

Does the mobo in the dell machine fit the atx standard ( So I can If I want remove it and place it into another chassis)

I can answer the question regarding the BIOS - Yes, you can access it - we use these models at work and access the BIOS all the time, so no problems there....

I went to bed after I couldnt get my friend to call me so that he can finally upgrade from a 400mhz P2. But nevermind about that, in anycase I hope you did put in a bogus/temporary acct number in your shipping. After which I believe you can call in to change.

I thougth I had mention/questioned that the account number is a number you assign just so to guide some of the lost sheeps over the wall. But I guess I should have been more direct.


I had initially forgotten my fedex account number when I want to place the order for my friend but then searched around furiously to find it on a stack of stick notes. My friend is a lucky .... coz I am taking the risk for him. Ummph.

*Remember thats only if you didnt upgrade the RAM and HDD.

Anyway, I did a rough count/estimate of how many people bought this thing. 40 thousands. How does that sound to the rest of ya?

40 000 X 710 = 28.4 million?

If you ordered more than one system under your name, you probably will only get rebates for one system. Read Dell FAQ page.

They are losing thier ass so big tyme here if ther're honoring all rebates or even if thier not and honor only the first 3. $90!!!! That P4 chip alone is over $200!! I am so tempted to keep this for myself, however it's earmrked for mother.

There is alot of debate on whether you can order more than one system, if the 80gb hard drive update voids your rebate or not, and if the rebates are all valid.

I think people are trying to squeeze every bit out of this deal when its already probably one of the best deals ever from Hot Deals. If you went
with the plain jane 30gb hd and plain 256 mem you should not have a problem and enjoy. If not good luck.

I upgraded to have black cdrw.

I ordered a Dell P4 1.8G before and at that time I did not order cdrw. I had to put a beige cdrw in it (I have more than 10 beige cdrw) and I have to say it's very UGLY.

I think extra $38 for a black cdrw is well worth the money.

Is Rambus better though?

Also, how many memory slots are on the mobo, because the 256MB in this comes on 2 sticks of 128, so you would need to take one out to upgrade if there are only 2
