How does this compare with XMS2 PC6400? Will this be any good for E6300 overclock? Or all I'll be able to do is 7x333MHz (assumig FSBRAM 1:1)? Thanks!

cyberkost - Without overclocking your memory, yes, the maximum CPU speed you can achieve is 7x333 Mhz (assuming your motherboard can handle the FSB being overclocked to 333 Mhz; which as far as I know shouldn't be a problem for just about every conroe compatible motherboard).

If this memory is a good overclocker (I don't know if it is or not), then theoretically you could OC the memory to 800 Mhz, allowing you to OC the FSB to 400 while keeping a 1:1 ratio. This would allow for a max CPU speed of 7x400 Mhz.

As far as compared with XMS2 PC6400 RAM, it depends on which model you're talking about. Speed-wise, the PC6400 is faster, latency-wise it depends on the model.

Hope that helps

How are these things with Gigabyte DS3? Also - anyone with any experience with rebates from these guys? The price looks good without the rebate - with the rebate it's great.

I am building right now and just got the DS3 to go with a C2D 6400 - after waiting forever to have Biostar's P965 mobo become available in the US. I got tired of waiting so I pulled the trigger on the DS3 last week.

yeah ... I guess I should have phrased my question differently: will I be able to get something upwards of 400MHz out of this memory (MB and C2D overclockability is a given ). msi1337 has some useful info, but I'd be a lot more comfortable knowing that msi's experience is usual and not just pure luck. Price AR is great, that's why I'm so tempted.

I have this memory, i bought it from newegg for my current build for 275 and a $30 MIR last month. They're the best sticks i've owned to date, i actually had no regrets about that purchase up until i read this thread.

I haven't overclocked it yet since i'm running under the reccomended power rating, until i get my Toughpower PSU tomorrow. But at stock speeds this ram is more than adequate for my system, so far.

$199+ a rebate is an insane deal, i'll definetly be buying another pair today.

I have a Dell 9200 on the way.

I've heard there are lots of compatibility issues with DDR2 and different chip sets. Does anyone know if this will/should work with the Dell 9200? I know I can't overclock the Dell but this is the cheapest DDR2 I'm aware of and it seems silly to buy Corsair's value line or Dell specific DIMMs when they cost even more at the moment.

I got mine up to 438mhz on my gigabyte DS3 motherboard running at 4-4-4-12

YYMV, I am blessed with a Seasonic modular 500 and a zalman 9500..so I was able to get it up there with no issues.

oh, and I paid over $100 more for them

Ah, newbie confusion, sorry I haven't actually done any overclocking before, so I don't have practical knowledge on the matter. As of right now, I'm just regurgitating information that I've gathered while researching my upcoming (1st time) build. Looks like lots of positive experiences with the RAM though.

And yes, very good price, especially in the current market.

I didn't need DDR2 back in Oct, but Fry's B&M is having a sale on this again for $219.99 - $30 MIR. I heard DDR2 might be dropping later this year. Should I wait if I don't need it now?
