If you don't mind a newegg refurb they have what's probably the same or very similar 9800se for $114 shipped.

I'd be tempted myself but he 9800SE isn't much faster than my Ti4600. I have the feeling I'll be keeping this card until ATI puts out their next generation of vid cards.

the 9800s only come in the built to order machines. compgeeks has a lot of machinse with no model, since the built to order machinse get stripped if they have good vid cards, and a cheap card like a mx440 gets put in it.

i used to sell these same cards online, and i got a box of about 25 once. not only were they 9800 non pros, all of them were 2.8 ns samsung ram.

Got my card, 128MB Samsung 2.86 ns (K4D26323RA-GC2A) memory. I checked Hardocp review of Powercolor 9800pro, turned out

this card is indeed a Powercolor 9800pro with underclocked core and mem. Used Rage3dtweak to run it at 380/340 without problem. According to Hardocp,

it can reach 415 core but no more. Anyway, good deal indeed.

I got notified by pager the second this item became available. There was 12 available when I was ordering. Too bad there arent any coupons available to use.

good luck. this is a hot deal if it can run at pro or >pro speeds. cheapest 9800 pro refurb I found was $159 at newegg.

I got my card today. I verified in ATI website that my card is indeed radeon 9800 pro. It also has the samsung RA-GC 2.8ns memory. I'll be testing it tonight. $125 for a radeon 9800 pro is such a sweet deal.

Update : with default bios core/mem 320/290(underclocked obviously although card is detected as 9800 pro). Overclockable to 400/357 with 5900 3dMark03 score.

Flashed with bios 102 date 4/4/03 , now default core/mem is 380/340(9800 pro default). Max overclock increased past 400/357, still testing the max overclock without artifacts. current 3dmark03 score is 6,200

They are probably getting them from an OEM Distributer, like COMPAQ or something that refurbished them after they were used, or they are changing their line of cards... so I suspect more and more will keep getting into stock, just check often.

good deal ... the key is the "8 rendering pipelines"

the extra throughput makes such a huge difference, if you really get 8 pipelines and 2.8 memory then this is smoking even if it's used.
