I received a office Depot catalog in the mail, with a $20 off $100 coupon code exp. 2-17, on the cover. It only says "Mention coupon code to sales consultant", so they might accept just the coupon code number at their BM stores. YMMV

Also some office Depot stores will accept printable coupons from Staples, which has a $20 off $100 coupon available. again YMMV

If it's out of stock on-line and at your local store, you could try putting in a order at their catalog sales dept. (877) 633-4236 sku code #144-870 if that doesn't work try #2007-6846. You can try giving the $20 off $100 coupon code I got off the OD catalog or try to get them to honor the $20 off $75 on-line coupon. YMMV

Pacific Digital 24X10X40 is say to be a Lite-on (Smart-Burn on the box) or a Mitsumi mfg drive.

FYI, I haven't seen any Pac Digs with Lite-Ons for about three weeks in any of my local Staples. They're all mitsumi's.

Edit: You can tell b/c the retail box normally says "Burn-Proof" on it. The Mitsumis have a sticker that says something like "Buffer Underrun Protection Technogloy". Spelling doesn't count.

I'm just a little concerned because I've heard some bad things about the 24x drives being very picky as to the media you use.

I got one of these recently from Staples and it was a Mitsumi. The main difference between this and the Lite-On was that the Mitsumi has a 12x vs. 10x re-write on the Lite-On, and the Lite-On can copy SD2 but the Mitsumi can't (not a huge problem since there is a software workaround using BetaBlocker and CloneCD). The specs for the Mitsumi drive were supposed to include a 16MB buffer, but it only shows up as 2MB in NTI CD Maker 2000 Standard (bundled with this drive instead of Nero 5.5). The Lite-On is a faster burner but the Mitsumi appears to be more solidly constructed. Don't know about the long run though. Here's some info/benchmarks:

OK My sister has been needing a CDRW now that she has a digital camera. So I went to Skywalkers site and used his link to $30 off $100 as a new customer. Only problem is it did not show up at checkout. So I called CS and a very nice lady named informed me that it happens often and all I need to do is to bring it to thier attention when I pick it up. They would then credit my account. Only problem is I didn't use a code, and there was no place for it at checkout. All it said was "new customer". Well tommorrw I pick it up and will see. Let you know then.

Just wanted to throw out a quick reminder to make sure you send in an original receipt for the $30 OD rebate. I've received shipments before from OD with NO receipt, so you might want to call OD's customer service # and have them mail (or fax, if that's accepted) a receipt to you. I've done this in the past and they've been very helpful about it. Makes it kinda hard though with only a 10 day window to have the rebate form postmarked by.
