Stretched..(The software I got with this drive is NTI , Whatever that is. First try couldn/t get it towork with Direct CD ()

I think Direct CD will only work with Easy CD Creator. Anyway I have send you a PM, that should fix your no Nero software problem.

NTI CD-Maker 2000 beats EZ-CD any day of the week. Go to for the most current update to the program.

NTI isn't invasive like EZ is, and it doesn't need to run in the system tray. I was very pleased when I bought my 12x Creative (Lite-On) and NTI was in the package. Give it a chance and I think you will like it. I burn all of my .ISO's with it with no problems whatsoever.

Naw, a TDK drive I bough before Christmas had Nero and DirectCD packaged in it. They coexist fine.

The packet writing software that comes with Nero (InCD), will not read CDs created using Direct CD and will not install correctly if Direct CD is already installed, besides InCD is a superior packet writing software to Direct CD, at least that my experience.
Also most people would prefer the Nero software over NTI CD-Maker and Easy CD Creator.

I got one today, ordered on-line with the coupon, said in-store pickup and printed out the price. The store honored the coupon and printed me out a reciept. Now my only worry is the rebate. It says only original forms, including the rebate form. I called the 800 # and the CSR (who did not seem to have a clue) said "with this particular company, they require all original forms. If you send in a copy it will be deneyed." Any thoughts? I did not see an original rebate form at OD.

<< Correct me if I am wrong, but I thought all drives nowadays come with a 2MB buffer internal, and the other "buffer" that is used is a swapfile on your harddrive. I am not referring to the larger swapfile that can be changed from like 8mb-128mb... this is like a swapfile for the swapfile.

I have never heard of a 16MB internal buffer before, but maybe I am just behind the times.
>>

The Mitsumi tested at cdrinfo had a 16MB internal buffer. I noticed that my drive is a later revision than the one in the article, it's possible Mitsumi did some cost-cutting (their site says 2MB now).

Thanks MysticMan1 and Maverick319, I will give NTI a chance. The problem is my old Iomega had Direct Cd and now the discs formatted in tat software can only be read in NTI. Not a big problem just trying to see if thst is normal.

Does anyone Know how true what multifacitedonyx said. Original rebate form ONLY! I have mine ready to go into the mail now but I am using a copy of the PDF file earlier in the thread.

I $30 rebate link at the start of my thread is coming directly from Pacific Digital's web site. I don't know how you get any more original than that.

See for yourself Link to PD rebate site

Here is a reply someone posted earlier : (I just called a PD CSR about the rebate and it has been confirmed that you can order online (which lets you use the coupon discount) then make a copy of your e-mail confirmation and send that in with the packing slip and the UPC and rebate form and all will be honored)

I was at the store to pick up my new drive today and explained that I had ordered online for instore pick-up. The cashier asked me to wait a moment until he checked with his manager.

To make a long store short, the manager was waiting on people and after 15 minutes, he found my order. He said that he could no find the invoice and told the cashier to make a copy of the packing slip and sent me on my way...

WITHOUT PAYING!

I had my instore coupon and cash in hand ready to pay for my order and when the cashier said "Thank you" I BOLTED!

Now if I could find a way of getting a receipt to send in the rebate, It would really make my day.

Jes, I wouldn't spend that money yet, most places that offer on-line purchase, in-store pick up, change your credit card on-line for the purchase, even though you are picking at up the store. I don't know if OD does that or not, better check your CC account.

Ick. I still haven't decided, but that $30 rebate is making me weak. My 12x Plextor(Iomega) has performed beautifully this past year and I don't know if I really need the extra speed. Maybe if I could save a few more bucks.....
Anyone find a $25 or $30 off $100 link?

D.

MysticMan1,

I was/am a bit worried too.
However, I was thinking it over.
When I ordered online for instore pick-up, the payment method was CASH because I had a in-store coupon and a few gift cards that I planned on paying with.

Although I have ordered from OD online before and they probable have my credit card(s) number on file, I don't see how that can charge my credit card without my permission.

I don't see what they could do.
They made me wait over 15 minutes and the manager was not on his toes.
I think he is more to blame than me.

I was just saying that the two packages work together fine. I agree that if you start putting additional Packet writing software in the mix you're asking for problems. No doubt that Nero is superior.

I run CDRWin, CLoneCD, DirectCD, Nero and EZCD on my system and have no problems whatsoever.

Ok! I see what you're saying. I'm running NERO, CD Mate instead of CloneCD, WinISO instead of CDRwin. I fine that CD Mate and WinISO gives you more options and the same if not better then performance than CloneCD and CDRwin. Just my opinion.

(Will CD Mate do SD2? )

Yes! but, it would depend on what writer you were using.

This is from their web site FAQ :

(First you need to have a CD writer that supports duplication of SD2 protected materials, to see if yours is supported, here is a complete list of drives that does the job.

You would need a software that supports duplication of SD2 protected discs. CD Mate is one that does, we support more CD writers than other programs and with your help the list will grow!

Lite-on LTR-32103S, LTR-24102B, LTR-16102B and LTR-12102B are all supported.

Check out the PM I send you and you can try it out yourself.
