OD has raised the on-line price to 149.99$. when I ordered on line for 99$ the CSR would not allow in store pickup. Went back to estore to order and found price was up for same item no. BOO!

But, I asked at the front desk if they would accept my online coupon (due to it being out of stock online) and the denied me. I will try again at a different store, and not ask first, I'm just going to take it to the front and let the young and nieve cashier worry about it.

For anyone in NYC(Manhattan) that's interested in getting in on this deal, I got one of these 1:00 PM this afternoon at the Kip's Bay Plaza Store (30th St. & 2nd Avenue). They still had two left in stock at that time. I haven't opened it up yet, but the box says "Smart-Burn" technology. I don't know what the other two said, as they were in the back and I could not see them.

The Asst. Store Manager "PM'd" their web price down to $99.99 (their are none available in the regional warhouse for on-line orders and in-store pick-up price is higher), but would not accept a STAPLES 'in-store' coupon, saying that OD does NOT accept competitor coupons. So I took the unit and called Corporate when I got home.

The CSR that I spoke with apologized for the error, as they DO take competitor coupons. She issued a refund for the value of the STAPLES coupon back to my credit card and called the store to insure they follow Company Policy in the future. So, it should be O.K. for anyone else that wants to try it. My end result: $99.99 - $20.00 STAPLES coupon - $30.00 MIR = $49.99 + tax.

I cannot guarantee that they will again "PM" their web price but it is probably worth trying if you're in the area. As they say, YMWV. If so, remember to use the $30.00 rebate from the earlier posting in this thread or directly from PACIFIC's web site, since the Rebate Form you get with the register receipt is only for $20.00.

Shearo --- check the deal threads at F*tW*llet and TechB*rgain$ for in-store printable coupons from STAPLES.

Imonarock --- if OD does not accept the competitior, advise them to check their Corporate Sales Policy which states that they DO accept competitior coupons. If they are still unwilling, tell them to call Tamica at OD's Corporate Office at Ext. 81624 for verification.

Rebate still comes. Same thing happened with the 200 Pack Prime Peripherals CD-R rebate awhile ago. People were worried. Still came.

In case your PD drive is not Liteon and you want to do SD2, check out a posting I made on a different thread:

Ahh, found it. I remember awhile back that CloneCD had an "Amplify Weak Sector" feature that enabled CloneCD to do SD2 backups even with drives that weren't technically SD2 compatible. In the US and UK you are not allowed to use the AWS function and it isn't "available" although you can see it (it's greyed out).

But, if you set your Region setting in Windows (yes, it works in XP) for Canada, then pull up CloneCD, you will be able to access the Amplify Weak Sectors box. I've tried this and it does indeed work. Remember, this box only appears when you are writing a CD.

Also, you can do a registry edit to enable the AWS box or you can download CloneAMP to make the changes for you. Not all CD-RWs can use the AWS feature. BUT the Aopen CAN!

For those Aopen people, I wouldn't be disappointed one bit. I just wish I'd thought about looking at this earlier before wasting my time hunting down a frickin' Liteon.
