I really do like how this board only requires a 4 pin 12v atx power connector rather than the 8 pin 12v atx power connector as seen on the typically bundled Gigabyte boards.

It does lack HDMI though (However, the Gigabyte H81 we normally see with G3258 does as well).

From the reviews, it appears that this board is popular with the mining crowd.

My guess is that with GPU mining winding down, Newegg may have an oversupply of this board. One of the reviews also mentioned that they got the board for $45. So if the CPU was $59.99, then this board would only be $15 off of its cheapest sale price.

Still not a bad deal.

You're suggesting that this Biostar motherboard has a DVI-out port that supports audio-over-DVI (which is not a standard).
There is no DVI-standard that has audio-pins coming out of the DVI port.

With that being said, I know a couple DVI->HDMI adapters, that are made for specific graphics hardware (hardware out of the official DVI spec, which through its own proprietary schema, pushes digital audio through DVI and along with the DVI video output, converts it to HDMI output)

Yes, technically, it's non-standard, but the ATI DVI-to-HDMI adapter is a de-facto standard implementation, and both recent AMD cards and modern Intel IGPs support it. At least that's been my experience.

My HDMI port on my 7790 appears to be dead now, so I used one of those adapters connected to a DVI port on my 7790, and I'm getting audio. I tried both DVI ports, both pass audio. As does the Intel IGP on my Gigabyte board.
