They want to make money, plain and simple. I saw one guy who is only doing $18.50 flat shipping rate.

True. However, you can't tell me that every seller isn't going to shop for the most economical shipping. For me to send a 30 pound box which is insured at $550 between the East coast and the West coast, FedEx ground only wants $30 in charges. UPS, on the other hand, wants another $6.00 or $7.00 over the FedEx Ground price to cover the same distance.

Wow, I checked with usps was like $42! Fedex can actually be cheaper than usps.

UPS wants $37-38? I just checked and from Massachusetts to California it's only ~$22 for a 30lb package insured at $550.

Here's a tip, open a UPS Internet Shipping account and you can make labels and pay via credit card right from UPS.com. Then just drop the package off at a UPS center, any retail outlet that ships UPS (Staples, Mail Boxes Etc, etc). It's a lot cheaper than paying retail prices.

Anyone have a problem with DVI connections? Using analog, it's no prob, but when going DVI to my 8500 AIW, it shoots horizontal flat jaggies (looks like interference) across the image. I've checked resolution, color depth, refresh rate, google+other sites to no avail. I've also checked the cable run - it's all clear, no interference objects. Anyone heard of this?

Regarding my DVI probs, an obscure newsgroup post mentioned increasing the FSB of my ASUS motherboard to combat the interference. oddly enough, it worked! I don't like the idea though - now some peripherals are running at 136 (272?) MHz instead of 133/266. Anyone else with an ASUS mobo seen this?

I've always been a sony trintron man but This Planar Lcd is the Bomb Big Ass screen, beautiful color,no dead pixels,so much more room on my desk and only very minor ghosting in SS2. I'm sure there are better Lcd's out there...But not for $659 shipped. I'll never go back to a crt again..

i just checked on dell.com and they have the monitor listed for $879. i'm curious where/when you saw the lower price. i've also emailed planar to inquire about the warranty issue that has been raised. we'll see what they say.

Then you gotta choose... pay the bills this month or get a flat panel. Well duh, flat panel of course!

You are right
I went and checked
If you go through Home & Home Office > Software & Peripherals. It's $879.00
If you go through Small Business > Software & Peripherals. It's $747.15 [$131.85 off]

Strange
I am not sure what's the difference
Any one knows??

By the way
Is Dell.com's return policy for LCD same for 30days?
Thanks

:frown:

i just got off the phone with planar systems. they emphatically stated that there is NO planar warranty if you buy one of these from ebay or any other source other than an authorized seller. please be careful. i will wait for the next dell sale.

Woohoo CT1904ADU received today with what I thought was one dead pixel. Turned out to be a spec of dust. This baby rocks! My 1550X is going back for a refund.

I don't believe this is the case. Although the specs on the display (contrast, brightness, resolution) are the same, the 1904z model came with 4 usb ports while the 1904adu comes with only 2. Not a big difference but I believe the two models are different.
