Damn, that's a real good price. I'm really tempted to buy this but hesitant cause the description says its an OEM barebone and only includes the card. No breakout box, component out cable, remote, or any other cable which would make the AIW useless. The added cost of having to buy all the missing components would kinda offset the deal....

Newegg calls these refurbs for what reason? Hell i dont know. IMO all they do is take a return and tag it refurbed. Its alot cheaper for them to have the customer...YOU... troubleshoot and figure out its good or not. If they were to pay a tech to actually test all returned merchandise it would be to costly.

There are items where the RMA gamble makes sense (certain Motherboards come to mind) with a high price item like this however, that heavily depends on the breakout box (a AIW without is worthless) or the remote it makes no sense what so ever. Especially since we all know that you got a 1/3-1/4 change that you get a DOA (death on arrival).

Move on people... nothing to see here, no HOT deal here.

Newegg and their so-called "refurbs" (a complete misnomer, since the junk they sell is NOT refurbished...just taken as a return and sent out to the next sucker, er, customer)...Sigh...people never learn.

Parts refurbished by the manufacturer are one thing. Someone else's returned defective junk thrown in a box and sent out as a "refurb" is another beast entirely.

And consider this: These places do NOT have the easiest return policies. We are not talking Costco here. If they took it as a return in the first place, the customer had to jump through a few hoops and "prove" there was a problem (or else take a financial hit) to send it back. So those returns are probably returns for a good reason in most cases.

You might get lucky. This is the point in the story where someone will chirp in about how they bought something and it was great and they saved 78 cents on their motherboard by buying a refurb. But I personally wouldn't bother unless the refurbs are DIRT cheap...

I totally agree and this is why I get pissed when people keep saying how great newegg is.. They are a cheap company who takes advantage of consumers.. I try to stay away from them.. My reason is not because they ripped me off, I have purchased 3 refurb'd items and all 3 were actually still in shrink wrap (brand new with all documents and accessories).. It's just the fact that so many others have been cheated out of money, especially when they require you to pay the shipping back to newegg after newegg knowingly sells you defective products (which was seen very clearly when they had a selection of products marked "dead" which were not selling so they relabled them refurbished in order to get people to take them and then hopefully not return them because they had to pay return shipping).. Any company that operates like this should NOT be praised as being a top quality company, instead they should be boycotted (I will purchase from them if I feel like taking a chance because their price is so far below everyone elses which is almost never).. Sorry to rant but newegg just gets under my skin...

I agree, a return does not fit the definition of refurbished/refreshed product. A refreshed product needs to be refurbished and certified by the manufacturer and it should be warranted for at least 30 days.
