What kinda performance difference should i see between the 2mb 400bb drives vs. the 8mb 400jb drives? I got a 400bb and really don't want to kick myself if the difference is minor to nil.

I currently have two 40gb Seagate Barracada IV raided with an iwill raid100 controller, for some reason, I couldn't get the HD to work in ATA100 mode with the Iwill card. So, I am debating to use these 2 8mb WD drive as a replacement to gain more speed and sell my two seagate. Would I see much speed difference? (I do a lot of big file transfers, editing, encoding...). Or should I get the Maxtor Atlas 10k-III 18gb advertised for 89 dollars @ Fry's? I am concern of speed, but if the Maxtor is not much faster than a IDE raid, then I guess I will get the bigger drive. Any advise?

I went to bestbuy to see if I could get one of the 40gigs 8mb cache drives and bring it home and swap um out but they were all out of drives. Guess im stuck with the 2mb cache one.

I need help. I bought my drive with pm, not buying it first and then pming. The problem is my rebate receipt mentions the pricematch. :| Will it go through? I couldn't buy it first because i didn't have $100 of cash on me and it was late on the last day of the deal.

Better hurry guys, the rebate ends 10/12/02 for this. Make sure you guys get the 40gb drives with the serial WCAD135xxx. THose are the 8mb cache Special edition drives with 3 year warrentys. I just went to best buy and bought one to swap it out with my 2mb cache drive, they still had alot of Special ED drives left.
