Scored two 8MB edition (WCAD13xxxxx) at East Palo Alto, CA, then went to Milpitas, CA to do the pricematch. They all know about the PM, and claimed that they wouldn't PM unless I forfeit the UPC code from the box. I didn't have the box with me, so I said what don't I just give them back the rebate form, they said no since you can get a rebate form again from any cashiers.
And the supervisor saids that's what they have been ordered to do,
tried to ask them to call East Palo Alto to see what they would do and they claim that East Palo Alto store will do the same thing.
Since I didn't have the box with me, they offered to write a note on the receipt and give me an extension to bring the UPC back. So, I am debating now if this is still a good deal since I got 2 8mb version. Does anybody think it's still a good deal at @ 60 dollars + tax.
I currently have two 40gb Seagate Barracada IV raided with an iwill raid100 controller, for some reason, I couldn't get the HD to work in ATA100 mode with the Iwill card. So, I am debating to use these 2 8mb WD drive as a replacement to gain more speed and sell my two seagate. Would I see much speed difference? (I do a lot of big file transfers, editing, encoding...). Or should I get the Maxtor Atlas 10k-III 18gb advertised for 89 dollars @ Fry's? I am concern of speed, but if the Maxtor is not much faster than a IDE raid, then I guess I will get the bigger drive. Any advise?
