Update: Price raised online. Good Luck to all!

Found at FW (Thanks gvafl)..

OfficeDepot has the Linksys WRT54G router for $59.99 with two $10.00 MIR's (2nd one takes UPC copy and is OD rebate) for $39.99 + tax on $59.99. Use Ebates or F@tcash for a little more off. Might be able to use coupons if available.

Type 634992 at Officedepot.com in the search box.

Rebates listed on page.

Don't forget, this router uses Linux and has "modified" or "rewritten" firmwares at Sveasoft.com (forums)!

Good Luck!

FW has threads to make this deal pretty good including FREE CD-R's and Free Luggage. YMMV since many are OOS now!

I picked one up locally since I need to use some OD GC. The Cashier called his manager and gave the price after he confirmed the price on their website. He kept the rebate receipts, but I didn't care since they were up on their website. Can't wait to play around with the Sveasoft firmware.

Awesome deal. Ordered one with free shipping, plus got 3-piece luggage set for free! (Check out FW for luggage coupon code.)

is it possible to set this thing up kinda like an access point, so i can direct it to another router that i have connected to a cable modem? because a new pci wireless g card costs just as much as a router.

I did this deal (well, different deal with the same parameters) once many months ago. The $10 Linksys rebate came in 8 weeks like it said. The Office Depot rebate is 12 weeks and counting, and both the rebate subcontractor and OD corporate were downright rude when I asked them about it. I've had past problems with OD's rebates too. Just a fair warning to all, OD's rebate center is a problem. OD's rebate center joins TCA Rebates on my list of folks whose rebates are no good with me anymore.

The router itself is a good unit. Wireless range is okay, not excellent. Hacked firmware is awesome, adds features no other SOHO device has, but do understand that you're taking a quality risk going with the hacked firmware.

cw42, you can use this as an access point by simply plugging your existing network into the 4-port "LAN" side of the unit. The WRT54G is supposed to be auto-crossover but sometimes that doesn't work, worst case you need a crossover cable. Just set the WAN settings to something bogus and remember to disable the DHCP server.

The rebate that goes to Walled Lake takes about 3 months to get. Just sit back and relax. I've gotten every single rebate I submitted to them. They just take a very long time to send out the check. If you give them your e-mail, they'll e-mail you when they received your rebate and when sending out the check as well.

Will the hacked firmware increase/help the Linksys WRT54G wireless range?

Yes, to either 84 or 251 mW (up from 25mW) depending on which hacked firmware you use.

What's a good PCI or USB 802.11g adapter that works well with this router? Is the D-Link PCI card in the Fry's ad good? Thanks for any pointers.

Do you know if it's possible to get the free luggage deal if I am purchasing the unit in store? For some reason I can't find it online but when I went by the store today they said that a store across town has 7 of them. :\

deal been dead. It is just offically dead right now with the price increase. Even at the $59 price, it went OOS real fast. I wanted one too :frown: Next best deal is at amazon. $64.74 - $10MIR = $54.74

OD is holding one of these for me and I'm picking it up today on my lunch break at the $59-$20=$39 price.

Any other deals I should add on top of this that you all know of?

I ordered one last Sunday and OD called me to tell me that they had canceled my order because the "Linsky Router" was discontinued. :|
