You're too late These are virtually non-existant in stores anymore and the Toshiba $100 rebate expires today (5/15).

Well I don't mind running out and ordering one so the receipt says today, I was just worried because the other rebate said May 1, 2003. Is there any way of extending that?

I saved the rebate image just in case OD pulled it before I got a chance to print it. Turned out when I went to do the mail in, that's exactly what happened. Anybody who still needs it can grab a copy of it

Here's an update on the Pocket Solutions order. Not much of one since they just shipped it out. A little upset that I ordered on 5/8 and they finally ship on 5/22 with no tracking whatsoever. Let's hope it's worth the wait..

And anyway, someone was asking about how to transfer palm contacts to pocket pc.. there are some programs.. one is shareware, so you just use it once to transfer it over. Don't know the name of it, just do a google search.

I was able to confirm on the expressgroup.com website that my Toshiba E335 PC $100 In store only, 5-4 to 5-5-03 rebate is valid. I mailed the rebate in on May 7th and got the Qualifying confirmation the 23rd. Has anyone successfully received confirmations for BOTH the $100 OD rebate and the $50 OD rebate for purchases made between 5-4 and 5-5-03 yet?

I have two issues with my ppc.
1. the processos on the ppc's are supposed to be MIPS, SH3, or ARM. Some programs I want to download ask me which one it is. Now mine says on it intel (R) PXA250-I don't know which one that correspnds to-do you??

2. I have some docs that I used in Palm tealdoc-anyone know of any comparable reader in ppc that reads tealdoc docs??

3. I have some hacks and fonts on Palm Hackmaster-would they work on the PPC?

I tried researching it and did fond answers and I am afraid to install the wrong program on it for fear of breaking it. can anynoe help???

1. choose ARM
2. if the document is a pdb file, pocket pc readers can read it.
3. NO, PPC and palm have complete different OS. Hacks will NOT work on PPC. I don't know about font. Maybe you can find some tool to convert the font into PPC format.

Hey, was this for the slim flip cover? I ordered one and got a confirmation email on May 14, but haven't seen nor heard anything since. Has anyone ordered from pocketsoloutions before? Is this standard?

I actually ordered the package deal. It included the slim cover, nushield screen protectors, and the chrome stylus. I figured I wanted all of them anyway, and wouldn't want to pay for shipping. Not a bad deal for the package. I still have not received it, but hope for it to come sometime this week.

BTW, thanks to those who posted the rebate links! Both of mine have been received!

It looks like Office Depot paid me to get in on this deal! I got my $54 in the $299 to $250 pricematch as well as an additional $50 from Office Depot from when I called in! Still waiting on the other $200 in rebates.

I'm considering selling everything to get the HP H1910 though since it is so much smaller, but will probably just wait until the next minisized pocket pc.

Yeah those h1910 are nice. Those iPAQ's have great screens. And the iPaq h5450 is sweet, but the price isin't so sweet. I was in Compusa today and checking out the e335, I'm not complaining but the screen didin't look so hot, hazy and a little whited out, not extremely clear. It could have been very used and abused. BUT the price is sweet. Not bad.

Wow. $70 is a great price. I actually got paid $20 to buy mine (Assuming the two $100 rebates come through) I would have definitely paid out $70 for the e740 though.

Anyway, on to my review of the Pocket Solutions cover-up. They cost $20, addition $9 for laser engraving. I got mine unengraved in case I ever sell this thing.

The package deal seems to be no longer available at the website, but I will give a review on all three items included in the purchase.

Cover-Up - The cover-up has plenty of reviews out there. There basically is no perfect case, as people prefer different cases for different reasons. This basically only protects the screen, but I wanted the slimmest profile possible. If you want to keep your PDA in your pocket, this might be a good way, though if you have linty pockets, it probably won't keep lint from getting all over your PDA. However, I find that most cases add just enough bulk to every PDA as to make them unpocketable. This keeps pretty pocketable for me at least. Fairly reasonably priced for what it is just because you cannot get this anywhere else.

PDA Panache Stylus - The chrome stylus on their site is just a chrome stylus from Panache. It is decent. I wish the tip was a bit thinner (as it is pretty thick and fairly imprecise). It fits fine and is pretty hefty making it easier to write with. I'm sure people lose these like crazy so if you are one of those people, it's probably not worth spending $15+ everytime you lose one. It doesn't seem as secure in the stylus slot so it may be more prone to falling it if you are tossing your PDA around pretty often. I now keep my PDA in my pocket, so I'm not too afraid of that happening.

Nushield Screen Protectors - These are definitely a different kind of screen protector. The sticker ones seem to haze out the screen way too much and it's impossible to put them on right anyway. And also, they don't last very long. This is comparable to the G2 type of screen protector. They stay on by sliding between the screen and the actual casing of the PDA. Pretty clever and they seem pretty durable. This is apparently thinner than the G2, though I have found mixed reviews as to which is better. I like this for the above reasons (durable, covers the ENTIRE screen not just 99.8% of it, and very transparent). However, it seems to take away from some of the precision of the touchscreen. Hopefully this will go away after some additional use.

Pocket Solution Customer Service - I received several PMs about the cover-up and was unable to post my review until now. Why you might ask? Well, I did not receive my order until now. Basically one entire month later. Possibly due to lack of inventory, poor controls, I don't know. I was billed the day I placed the order however.

Their main e-mail listed on their website was not answering e-mails as well as the e-mail that sent me the order confirmation. I was pretty furious that I had to wait so long for the order and kept getting very short and useless replies. Finally I was just about to give up and have them refund my order when they finally write to me that my order was sent. Long story short, I did end up getting my order and had several conversations with a senior person within the company who was very intent on retaining me as a customer. I was very impressed by this and it says a lot about how focused this particular person is on continued success of the firm.

Many of the issues are understandable from a new firm. Hopefully if anyone else orders, they will not go through the same ordeal.
