Free killer business plan - Someone needs to start a Newegg competitor in Memphis (main FEDEX hub), so CA ppl (and others I guess ) can buy stuffs cheap, tax-free and with superfast delivery.

Good idea! I thin k UPS has a major hub in Kentucky as well, so that could be another place. Although for CA people, having something in Oregon, Nevada, or Arizona would be best for ground shipments.

Yeah, cuz everyone (worth anything anyway) seems to be in CA. I will look at them once I pull the trigger on e4300 (and my friend's too). Let you guys know how that goes.

You're forgetting/ignoring the fact that according to State Depratment of Revenue (not sure if it's true for all states, but it's true for most) you still have to pay sales/use tax, even if you bought something online from an outfit in another state. It's just that this issue is not enforced at the moment ... so, if someone's business model is built around explicitly letting consumer avoid paying state sales tax one may quickly get in a legal trouble ...

cyberkost, everything you said was true except for "quickly get into legal trouble." It's not illegal to start up a business selling over the internet. As long as you don't have a business presence in a state, you don't have to charge sales tax there. Having worked for 3 years in Nevada selling laptops to California (and everywhere else, of course), the rules are pretty clear: as long as you don't drop ship from CA to CA, you're fine. If you do, then you have to charge sales tax.

As a CA resident I too am sick of being screwed over on sales tax on some sites while others get the list price. I love NewEgg but when you add in 7.25% they are no longer always the cheapest. Unfortunately, no one else really has the selection that they do all in one place. Plus, their service is absolute tops. I still wish there was some viable competition out of state.

And don't give me some BS about owing taxes or why I should be happy to pay them. Maybe when they ban Colt 45 and crack for all welfare recipients I'll change my attitude.

Me too, I miss the days when Monarch was around (and still reputable).

Anyway I got a fast response to my CPU order from this place, just too bad they have such a limited selection.

Ours is not to reason why in the Great People's Paradise of California Norte. We are in the capable hands of our betters don'cha know?
By the way, you are getting a heck of a deal at only 7.25%. Most big city/counties are at 8.25% sales tax. And then, income tax. The total state skimming operation is about 25%.

You think 7.25 is bad? Its a flat 9% here in WA, but fortunately most online stores dont tack it on. (as of yet)

The E6600 is not a bad price with the free shipping to CA. I missed the frys.com deal for $199 w/free shipping, but with CA tax it came to $214 This is just about $6-7 dollars more than the frys deal.

That's good to hear. I plan to use this place to buy my E4300 once I locate my MoBo of choice.
