NewEgg is OOS for now on these, good luck to those who got one of these!

Saw this @ fattywallet.

In case you missed out last time, the OEM SAPPHIRE RADEON 9800 128MB Non Pros are back @ NewEgg for only $243!

Product Link

Get one while their hot, I've got mine running @ 410/360 after flashing to Pro using only stock cooling.

Update: Some people have reported getting Etron-Tech 2.8ns chips with this new batch of cards. No one here has reported on whether or not they are fast enough to allow for flashing, but stay tuned!

They're either oos or run $250 pretty much everywhere else. Plus these seem to have samsung ram more than those at best buy or circuit city.

I doubt they'll be in stock for long.

Sweet! Thanks nero2!

Edit: Evidently they received a large shipment because when I put "99" in for quantity, it went through.

Damn, I'm tempted to get one of these but just wondering what type of ram comes on these now.
Wonder if more 9800NP cards are gonna start coming out.
Ahhhhh, decisions...

circuit city has em for 7 bucks more and they are retail. But if these are more likely samsung memory then it is probably worth it.

My thoughts exactly.

Not too familiar with Saphire. How do the saphire OEM cards compare with the Retail ATIs?

If I remember correctly the CC one had like $100 rebate though?

If I'm not mistaken, Sapphire produces most of the boards that are labeled as "built by ATi" so I'm sure you can trust them on OEM-branded cards. I have a Sapphire 9700 Pro OEM that has been running great for over a year. CC may have these for $250, but by the time you add in tax it's not a great deal at all compared to this.

Good info... I just sent this to a few friends who missed out on the 9800NP before. I'm lovin' mine!

Thanks to nero2 also!

If I'm not mistaken, the OEM models do come with some sort of warranty (if only through NewEgg), the only difference between them and the retail version(s) is the abscence of a box The OEM comes with all the extra cables (including DVI-VGA dongle) that the retail version comes with. And yes, Sapphire is ATI's primary OEM, though they do market their own line of cards.

nice deal, I hear ATI is phasing out these cards? "The fourth Ultra high end Radeon card, the 9800 non Pro, is akin to the Radeon 9500 Pro; fast, cheap and near impossible to find. It seems once ATI found out it was incredibly easy to turn your $250 9800 non-pro into a full blown 9800 Pro, they stopped their supply of the units." Anandtech Price Guide

Sapphire won't give a crap about the warranty. You have to do it through Newegg.

I bought the BB retail ATI 9800np and it looks the same as the card pictured. My guess is that they are one and the same.

Nope. More than likely, your BB retail ATI 9800np has infineon memory, and can't be set up to run at 9800 Pro speeds. The Saphires "normally" have Samsung memory, and can be clocked up as well as bios flashed (this probably voids your warranty, however) to a 9800 Pro.

Anybody has any info on the kind of RAM that comes with these boards? Are these "upgradable" to PRO?

I'm about to bite one, but don't know if I should go with this one or with the CC one (retail).

Any info is appreciated.

Thanks,

Seeing as no one has gotten their cards from this batch yet, we still don't know the ratio of Samsung to Infineon chips. It'll probably be mostly Samsung chips like last time, but they're nothing to back that statement up yet Basically it boils down to this: all 9800NPs regardless of memory type, will most likely hit 380+ on the core. Those with Samsung memory will flash fine and overclock to at least stock Pro speeds. Those with Inineon chips probably won't be able to get anywhere near the 340mhz core memory speed, falling somewhere in the 310s. There is *plenty* of information about this on the following forums:

Overclocker's Forum
Rage3d
AMDMB's Forum
HardForum

rayon: get the AIW. Newegg refurbs are reliable, and even if you have to buy a few of the missing cables from ATI, it'll still be way cheaper than buying it new.

the only thing about getting a refurbed AIW card don't forget is that you might not be getting all the goodies (i.e. cables) that come with a non refurbed one...

Yeah, without the goodies ... kinda bad.

[nero2, would you know where one would get the goodies for a refurbished AIW?]

Oops, scratch that. I re-read your post. You said I could get that from ATI? I'll check their website and see how much it would cost.

Thanks guys,
