Looks narrower than the older model (which I have)... can any confirm? I could really use another inch or so (of room on my keyboard tray!).

//---

It is indeed the same size as a standard keyboard. The amber is ugly, I think I'm going to get one.

I thought the newer model was the blue light up one with the flip up screen. I have this model the orange with 6F keys and the lcd. It's nice I use it a lot in WoW it displays your in game stats. It's pretty slim, never used the other model so I don't know. $50 is a steal though I got mine for $99 at best buy (but I had a $100 gift card so it was practically free). Is there a site where you can download more things for it to display?

version 2 is a couple of inches narrower (per market research), and has amber backlighting.

Anyone with measurements? I would like to know how wide cause I am pinched for mouse space as it is but I would like a nicer keyboard then my Microsoft Multimedia. Too bad it isn't back lit blue to match everything else.

after seeing both I want an old one...wish they had them on sale somewhere.

FUNNY research caused the change???

Everyone I know that has one and every review that compares them says the old one is better...research the accounting dept on making them cheaper for a higher price maybe

smaller screen and 12 less keys

Dimensions: 20.0x8.9x2.0
I would've bought the original G15, were it not for its enormous width, unfit for my keyboard tray. Personally I am glad that Logitech downsized the keyboard and decreased the # of G keys--not everyone needs that many G keys. I am buying the new keyboard for its backlighting feature.

Thanks for the dimensions I'm going to have to measure my old one when I get home tonight.

I have the original G15 and its definitely wide, just enough space on my pull-out kb shelf for a Ratzpad + G15. Also, the LCD isn't visible as its hidden under the desk if I use the wrist rest; the newer one should be better if you have tighter clearance with a pull-out drawer.

As for the G keys....I think the original 18 is probably too many but the 6 or whatever it has now is probably too few. Somewhere inbetween would've been better. On the original they're so far over that they're not really useful. Maybe in RTS or MMOs where keeping your fingers on the home keys isn't as important, but I found them largely useless in FPS games. Also, each cluster of 6 is identical so its hard to distinguish between them quickly.

The M1-M3 sets are also largely useless because they're so far from everything. There's really no way you'd want to quickly switch between them. They'd only be useful for maybe saving different profiles for different characters/builds for the same game.

What would be MUCH better was if there was a thumb D-pad or analog stick of some sort below the space bar that was mappable and allowed you to use that to shift between macro sets. Like up = shift, left = alt, right = ctrl, down = tab or something. So for instance, up+G1, left+G1 etc would all be switchable quickly and on-the-fly. I've been using this for quite a while with my various Logitech mice, but it requires programmable software and it doesn't always work well with every game. I'm really waiting and hoping someone puts this on a mouse below the forward and back keys. Logitech if you're reading this, you better give me credit if you use it!

In any case, $50 for either this new or old one is a great deal on a high-quality keyboard with a good feel and LCD illumination at the very least. If you can make use out of any of the G-functions and LCD that's a bonus, but I've found other (and often better) means to accomplish the same thing for the most part.

PM to Best Buy at $74.99, will be $24.99 + tax AR, maybe even better if they give you the extra 10% difference ($2.50) ;-) YMMV of course, as CC is notorious for denying PM when a rebate is involved... I'll try tonight, wish me luck...

Despite a lot of failures to live up to their price matching claims, CC is famous in my circle for price matching Age of Empires II (when it was at $50) down to $14 - $30 MIR for a net profit of $16. Man that was a good day.

Regardless of whether it's price matched, the G15 is still well worth the price. I've been extremely happy with mine.

Well, they PM'd (make sure to print out the BB product page with the price), but the rebates either did not print out, or I didn't hang around long enough to collect them. No matter, they can be printed out online. Rebate terms state CC can basically deny/amount adjust a rebate if there was a PM involved, but so far, I've never experienced that with their rebates. So it's wait and see, seemingly a great deal for this KB. I replaced the old G15, and that one had better feel to the keys, and obviously the larger and moveable LCD, but it was crowding my tray big time. Didn't even have to install any new drivers for this one, it works with what was installed for the old G15. I don't mind the lower number of function keys (did not use them anyway on the old one), and the angle of the LCD is just right, so I think the new G15 is OK for me.
