another thing i saw that looked dumb was being able to mow down zombies on a tricycle like you were in a car. as soon as you hot a zombie on that you would stop. he was just knocking them them and driving over them like they were blades of grass.

Been enjoying the game - but the bug with it not detecting wireless xbox 360 controllers has me bummed....

\hopefully they'll fix it soon.

XBOX 360 Controller emulator

http://code.google.com/p/x360ce/wiki/MainPage

To get the wireless controller working:

D/L this:

http://code.google.com/p/x360ce/downloads/list

Copy to your DR2 game folder. Run it. Let it create the ini and the other file.

Under Controller 1 tab select the General Tab

On the Presets drop down Select -- Controller (Xbox 360 wireless receiver for Windows)

Hit load

Force feedback tab - turn force feed back off

Advanced tab - turn native mode off and make sure device type is gamepad

Options tab - Change Fake API from normal to compatibility

Save, exit

Doesn't this game have time limits and checkpoints?

I hate check points with a passion. Let me save when I want dammit. I also hate time limits...no fun if you're feeling rushed all the time.

ugh. I hate console games on PC's. there is no reason for a check point or time limit.

Time limits are a form of challenge. It's your personal preference whether you like that challenge or not, but a blanket statement that there's no reason to have them is silly. Besides, at least us PC version players will no doubt have a mod to remove them if you so choose.

If I have 1 complaint about the game it's that the boss battles are ungodly hard for no real reason. A coked up CURE member with a piece of glass kicking my ass when I'm firing round after round from a shotgun into him? I dunno, seems silly in that regard.

Then again, it's in line with the first one.

Otherwise, definitely one of my favorite, if not my favorite game that's come out this year.

LOL, Same thing happened to me. The game is pretty good otherwise. The only other issue i have is tha the cut scenes have low volume. Not sure if this is because it the steam version or what.

Its pretty much the same thing as the first game. If you didn't like the original game don't even bother with this one. That being said I had fun using different weapons, wearing hideous outfits and playing co-op with me riding a tricycle and my pal a motorcycle. wacky!

Timed missions are usually just a pain in the ass. I remember a few from GTA 4 that pissed me off. Like you have three minutes to drive to some place and you get there in 3 minutes and 1 second and you've failed the mission despite the guy standing right there. i'm sure he can take the extra 1 second wait. Ridiculous. It's a lazy way to add suspense. Throw that in with a checkpoint and you've just wasted minutes of your life. That's when shit goes flying around the room

Neither checkpoints nor time limits have anything to do with consoles. They are game design decisions.

maybe so, but they are used way more often in console games than pc games, in my experience.

Actually checkpoints were initially used on consoles due to a lack of save space capacity.

A shame it has time limits. It looks like it'd be a fun game to just kick back and do some mindless killing when I get bored with other things. Yes, time limits make for more challenging gameplay but I personally dislike time limits in games. Maybe if the fan base can get a mod to change the time limits then I'll consider picking it up.

Or if it's like the first one you could just beat the game and unlock the survival mode. Though I guess that has a time limit too as your health drains continually and food items are limited.

I never played the first one but if its like you say about survival mode I probably wouldn't like it either due to the health drain.

When I bought Dead Rising, I was expecting it to be like Left4Dead (was before L4D came out). I was supremely disappointed that one hand would be permanently glued to a stupid cam and that I had to take pictures of these retards while hitting them over the head with golf clubs, potted plants, and restaurant chairs or something. Come on, give me a freakin shotgun and lets have some zombie-killing fun!

I gave up after saving 5 or 6 people, thought it was a completely ruined game that had tons of potential. I won't be falling for this trick twice so I won't be buying Dead Rising 2.

There is no photography in this one.

Wow the psychopaths are hard. I've died to Brandon like 10 times. I guess I need to bring some food in with me so I can heal. Right now I just have 3 assault rifles, a shotgun, a spiked bat, and a broadsword.

The guy on the bike kills me too. Any suggestions?
