Is it on sale all week? One rebate says you must purchase by Aug 14th

is it even possible to purchase online, find a lower price elsewhere, and PM it at the store?

Are dead pixels something to still worry about ?

And would it be overkill to take the display out of the box at the store, try it out and check for dead pixels before I buy it (Would they allow this? I'd bring my laptop)

Yeah... but not very good IMO:

Brightness 300 cd/m2
Contrast Ratio 600:1
Response Time (ms) 12

Killed it.... but I guess if it's not for gaming, then it's alright.

Just plain warm for a high response time screen, but pretty damn hot considering it's 12ms.

Picked one up today in-store. It rings up without the $46 instant rebate, and that's how its written on the card(IIRC, store price is $459.99 - $80 mail in rebates = $379.99, but I may be off by $10 or so), but when I showed the cashier the printout from the site, he changed it. I've been paranoid about dead pixels for a long time, and that's why I've never bought an LCD, but a relative wanted one regardless.

In short, the people there were friendly, but wouldn't let me open'er up and check for dead pixels.

Made sure to check their return policy before buying because of this, and it's 2 weeks return w/ full refund if unopened, 50% restocking fee if opened. However, they will exchange it regardless for the same or upgraded product(whatever that means) if there's a defect, and 1 dead pixel is defect enough. I have 1 bright red stuck "on" pixel right in the center of the screen, and it bugs the hell out of the perfectionist in me, so even though the relative says that it wouldn't bother her, I'm exchanging tomorrow.

No shi*, I have yet to see much better than 12ms! I only wish my Samsung 213T had 12ms. The 25ms that I do have is bearable, 12ms would be sweet. Wish I could afford this right now, but I think I'm gonna get in on that $350 Compaq deal...

What kind of nazi policy is it for a 50% restocking fee? Thats just plain redicilous, I wouldn't buy it from them just for that reason.

Sorry, seems I misheard the guy. I researched it a little, and it's 15%, not 50%. Considering they advertise a "no questions asked" return policy rather visibly, it still pisses me off a little bit. Though I read sites that say that the 'no questions asked' thing is a new push by CC corporate, and included removing the restocking fee, I was still told that it exists by the cashier.

Oh yeah... and I'm a big fat IDIOT, don't know what I was thinking when I said 12ms is not good.

Was wondering...

This appears to be their top of the line 17" analog, though I can't figure out the difference between it and the 710N.

BTW, tracked down their return policy:

If you?re not completely satisfied with a product, Circuit City will gladly exchange or refund the purchase within 30 days of the sale date, except as noted below.

Digital cameras, camcorders, desktop PCs, notebook PCs, monitors, printers, scanners and radar detectors must be returned within 14 days of the sale date and (except where prohibited by law) are subject to a 15% restocking fee if returned opened or in a box other than the factory-sealed box.

There is no restocking fee for defective product returned in exchange for the exact same product, or for product originally purchased as Open Box.

Seems like pretty big chunk of CC's business to not apply the "no questions asked" / no restocking fee policy they implemented a little under 2 years ago, and have been advertising recently.

Hell 16ms is still looks pretty damn good...
Expecting a learned response from a user self-monikered cr4zymofo is perhaps a bit much.
