I personally have found very little practical performance difference between different SSDs. I have therefore decided to always go with the cheapest price per gb. I recently got a 256gb Agility 4 for $99 which makes this deal look cold IMO. No offense to the OP; this is a decent price for the 830. I just think that there are better value options by far.

I have had 4 OCZ SSDs so far with only 1 issue.

I think that by now they have worked most of the bugs out and most of their problems were due to Sandforce which they don't use any more.

I believe that I read that the Agility 4 has one of the highest RMA rates, and Samsung drives in general, one of the lowest. When you take the absolute lowest bidder, you take your chances.

Anyways, for anyone with a preference for quality, dependable SSDs, this is a good deal on a Samsung drive.

PS. I recently purchased two OCZ Agility 2 90GB SSDs. ("New old stock" from Amazon.) One of them, which was used briefly in a rig for about a month, seems to already be failing.

I also have four Agility 30GB drives, and three Vertex Plus R2 120GB drives, and thus far, no problems with those. (Barefoot 1 and Barefoot 2 controllers respectively. The Agility 2 drives are SandForce gen1.)

My Vertex 2 was the one that failed. I think that the Sandforce drives were the worst, plus I've heard that the Petrol drives were no good.

Anyhow, for 35 cents per gigabyte I'm not complaining!

I took a "risk" on a 256GB Agility 4 too. $99 for a fast drive that can store all games I'm currently playing (and then some) made me overlook the OCZ name ;-)

You want to point me to this Ability 4 for $99 please? I picked up a 830 64mb last Christmas for $94 and it was a hot deal at the time, seems a little small now though.

The deal is dead; it was on sale the Saturday after Black Friday at Tiger Direct. That said, I'm sure there will be comparable deals in the future.

Did you have the firmware updated on it or did OCZ provide the right firmware with the drive
