Do you mean TRIM in RAID 0? I have a thread about that in Memory and Storage and am not sure if it's working or not. Regardless, garbage collection should work fine (just log off or go to BIOS menu for a few hours a month to give the drive idle time to clean itself).

While the Samsung drive is overall faster, in normal every day operations, it is highly unlikely that you will notice ANY difference in between the two unless you are benchmarking and only buying your ssd for that reason. The fact that the Samsung ssd is only $10 more expensive makes it the much better value, but once again, you will not notice a difference between the two.

You do get 8GB more storage with the Samsung, so they're almost the same $/GB.

This is my first SSD, so forgive my n00b questions.

1) Do I need a mounting bracket for a Windows desktop or Windows laptop?
2) On a MacBook Pro 13" 2012 (with 500GB/DVD-RW), how do I remove the DVD-RW, keep the 500GB and install the SSD? Do I need any extra parts? Links?
