i think this is it

link to scan of cruzer insert

hope this helps

Thanks! I just got back from RS now. I was lucky for them to have 1 of them left. I went to a different store the first time and they had like 2 of the ones w/o the white triangles! Hopefully this is the faster model. I'll be testing it tonight! I should know if it is or not w/o testing it w/ Sandra. (I have to copy my homework over to it)

Thanks for all your help!

EDIT: They DO let you return them... as a matter of fact, they didn't even go through the return process. They just gave me the new one and took the old one with only a receipt inspection.

Is there a way to tell if the drive is the faster one on a system that only has 1.1 usb ports?

I got the last one at my RS, but it was opened. They were going to ship it back. Said the dude opened in store to look at it and didn't buy. I wonder if the guy had the slower drive and switched it. Otherwise, it has the same stickers as mentioned.

I saw another (last one) at the only other close by RS. That too was opened but was a return. The package had no stickers on either side.

Now I just need a way to verify I got the faster drive.
I plan to upgrade my mobo, but not just yet, so I got 3 computers, none of which have usb 2.0.

Anyway to tell?

I returned my slower one (and I mangled that packaging) for a faster one the day after I bought the first one.

can't wait to ditch my 128 cruzer for this one. Store ordered 2 to be shipped to 2 different addresses. They only printed out one rebate form for me, but doesn't matter since already have the link for both the $20 and $10 rebates. Thanks OP!

Here is a screen shot of the file system benchmark in Sandra 2002. Not sure how else to test it? Seems pretty fast to me so far.

Edit: I just transferred a 400MB folder with 1039 .jpg files in it and it took a snail like 8 minutes or so. Not blazing fast, but I did read somewhere that transferring lots of small files really slowed this thing down. It took about 1 minute 35 sec to delete this folder.

I also transferred a 357MB single file to the drive and it took 1 minute and 20 sec. Pretty respectable. It deleted almost instantly.

Go figure I guess.

Use Hard Drive Tach here: HD Tach

I have a Memorex 256 MB Traveler Drive USB 2.0 and it's reading and writing at 7+ Mb/sec.
I also have a 2.2 GB portable Hard drive USB 2.0 (1" micro drive), that also benchmarks at 7 Mb/sec

I hope my micro cruzer isn't a 1.1 or it's going back. (I am getting it shipped).1 mb/sec is too..... slow.

This seems misleading as my transfers in my last post showed varying speeds.

I appears your Micro drive is 2.0. Trust me, if it was 1.0 or 1.1 it would flat line at 1 mb/sec with HD Tach. You are getting better transfers than my Traveldrive. Even if I put my 2.0 drive in a 1.0 USB port and run HD Tach, it again flat lines at 1.0 Mb/sec.

As far as your vary results with the other files, I guess many small files take a lot longer than 1 large equivalent sized file. The numbers on your large file transfer is still around 5 mb/sec which seems OK to me.

So far so good. I knew it was faster than 1.1 sppeds because I have been saving various files the past couple of days. I just didn't really have a good way to measure the speed. I have been more than happy with my Cruzer. I don't transfer files all day long so super speed isn't an issue, but I am glad that it seems to be "Cruzing" along at decent speeds.

Here is my Sandra results for my newly exchanged USB flash drive! It is pretty fast. If u compare with knightc2's you will see a big difference.

Link to results of test

This is an awesome product for only 9.99. (And even better for those who used the entertainment coupon!)

Hmm, from the FW thread:
"The pricegrabber $10 rebate is NOT valid. It is for purchases made at Datavision only."
So I guess only the $20 rebate is good.

the rebate form from PG is from Sandisk and has no mention of DV in it so how is that possible?

This is how:
Here
click on "$10 Rebate Merchant Restricted"
It says Rebate Amount: $10 - Rebate form for Datavision More info"
click on that and you get the pricegrabber form.

Yes, the form itself has no mention of a merchant, but getting to the form certainly does. Don't know how it will all play out, but that's how it's possible.

I am not sure we are comparing apples to apples here. Your test used a 43MB test file and mine used a 368MB test file. Not sure what that that does to the test results. Not to mention I have Sandra 2002 which is old. Anyway, just not sure they are comparing correctly. Either way I am happy with the speed so far. If I find a better way to get a benchmark I will post it.

Sandisk knows from the Promotion #, in this case it's promotion 9766.

From FW, there were people saying that this rebate was good for the 10 rebate even though it only states the Sandisk Mini. It is promotion # 9014-SD

The other 10 rebate at Ratshack here

Well finally got one in the next town from ne.The reason the first store didn't have it on sale was due to it being privately owned...Atleast thats what the other store told me.

So which one should we send off?

I was lucky to take mine back for a replacement with the white triangle on the packaging. The first RS clerk was trying to tell me the one I was returning was USB 2.0 since it said it on the package... (idiot) She didnt have the 512mb Cruiser with the white label just the 256mb. The mall had it though and swapped it out fine. The speed is quite faster than the one I took back. Much happier now.

If I were to send one of the 10.00 rebates in, it would be the one that states MiniCruzer from Ratshack. The 9766 promotion is apparently a Datavision rebate and SanDisk will probably reject it. There a thread over FW that's says exactly this. Someone called Sandisk (from FW) and they claim the 10 Ratshack rebate #9014-SD will be accecpted for the MicroCruzer. I say YMMV but if I decide to keep the drive (I haven't received it at this time), I will send in the Ratshack 10.00 form. Whatever you do, don't hold it against me.

Since this is the Cruzer Micro I don't think it would be wise to send in the Cruzer Mini rebate unless someone knows something that I don't.
I would use this one. There is speculation that this is DataVis.com only rebate though. I think that the only sure rebate is the $20.00 one. Anyone have any answers to clear up the confusion?

I made the above comments because I read the thread at FW as I stated in my last post. The form you link to is a pricegrabber rebate form. It had the promo # 9766. The link was posted earlier in the thread here. If you click through it you will see its linked to Datavision and the pdf of the rebate form shows the 9766 Promo.

In the FW thread someone bought the Micro Cruzer and the rebate form that printed from the Radio Shack cash register had a promotion # 9014-SD along with the mailing address. There is a scan of the rebate receipt on the FW thread. The earlier Radio Shack rebate form that I linked to, that had the 10 rebate for the MiniCruzer has the same promo # on it 9014-SD. Here is a link to that scan. Scanned Ratshack receiptIt supposedly has only 100 mb of traffic so the scan might not show up, but I have seen it. It's promo 9014-SD.

The FW thread had some one that called Sandisk and they daid the following:

" Date Posted: Mar/14/2005 4:08 PM
Message Rating:

Just confirmed with SanDisk tech support that the $10 rebate(offer 9014-SD) is valid for Cruzer micro and mini "

I most definitely won't send the Datavsion one in. In the first post of the FW thread it's also in bold that was edited later saying:

"The pricegrabber $10 rebate is NOT valid. It is for purchases made at Datavision only."

Either way the only guaranty is the 20.00 one.
