I bought two, one was 7200.9, the other one was 7200.7 and there was no difference. The only difference was that the 7200.9 didnt have a static bag, it was just in a plastic container, but it had never been opened.

Actually I have a use for all of them. Going to use them at home and work. I might use 2 of them in clients pc's. They are about $15 less than I get 80gb drives for. I should be buying every one I can get but I'm not.

Out of the ones you bought, do any of them have a very differet S\N or P\N? I'm trying to figure out how to find out which are the new 7200.9 drives.

20-30 on the shelf
be sure to look on bottom of box and get ones that say Thailand, not China

What's the difference between Thailand and China manufactured drives? Mine is from Tailand, but it's not the newer 7200.9

Thailand vs China

All of us in electronic manufacturing know that Tawian is way better than China for quality.

Im not sure if the post was a typo?

But generally speaking all the other countries electronic manufaturing like the philipines , singapore , malaysia...

have a higher overall percentage of good boards(less rejects and failures) than China

so you have a higher percentage chance that you will get a good , problem free drive from

anywhere else.
