Holy cow... I debated buying this on Friday last week (23rd), pulled the trigger on Saturday when it was still a pre-order at $109 shipped, and just now received it at work before 9 AM on Tuesday. I can't believe it's here already. Retail box is labeled ST3400632A-RK (indicating a 7200.8 drive), but the drive packed inside is indeed marked 7200.9. Good news it's a newer drive, bad news is it'll be a little bit louder, and I'm a noise freak... but ultimately I'll take the newer drive.

Gooooo rebate!

Mine shipped today and was delivered (it shipped from 5 miles away.. lucky me ) today. Formatting the drive now...

Edit: same as above poster -- box says 7200.8 but the drive is actually 7200.9.

Ya I ordered Sunday night. It shipped yesterday, and arrived early this morning. Airborne "ground" shipping is awesome!

I got mine today via DHL. It's nice 7200.9 rather than the 7200.8 they claim. I guess they had extra drives that were packaged with PATA rather than SATA. Just wondering, on the rebate, did you guys leave the Company Name line blank or made up a company?

Surprisingly enough, even though DHL was estimating receipt of my hard drive on Thursday, it showed up yesterday, and was waiting for me when I got home! WOW!!

The rebate's going out in today's mail. Should have no troubles getting this one thru, for the <$0.25/gb deal of the week!

Are you sure? I did a google and for the most part it was showing it as a 7200.7. I've heard the that 7200.8 series has problems...

Edit: Hmm, I wonder if they have the same names for the same series, even if it's a .7, .8, or .9...Buy.com is showing it as a 7200.9, while ebay is showing it as a 7200.7:

My hard drive is labelled ST3400633A, that's the same model as the 7200.9 400GB version ST3400633AS. I'm assuming the S stands for SATA.

Oh oh I misread. Mikeman101 put "7800.9" which I read as "7200.8" lol. Seagate's site doesn't tell us anything but all of the major retail sites say it's a 7200.9. *sigh of relief*

I also got a different labeled drive in the box than what the label says outside the box. Inside it says 7200.9 ST3400633A but label outside says ST3400632A. And also, like others, the serial is the same both places

st3400632a-rk

Actually came in yesterday but I didn't realize it. My bro dumped it outside my room so I saw it at my door after I got home. Will send in rebate form tomorrow.

For all you nea-sayers out there...my Seagate Tour rebate has been approved Although the nea-sayers can smirk a little since my rebate has only been approved for $20 (i.e., it should have been $25 since 10% on a MSRP of $249 is ~$25)

All in all an excellant deal of ~$90 for 400GB of HD space with 16MBs of cache and a 5-year warranty.
