Sennheiser HD595 headphones (refurb) $135 + S&H @ eCost

I bought these back in March, then they sold out, and now they're back! $5 cheaper than they were before. The headphones come with headphones on new ear/headpads, packed in a sealed plastic bag with 1/8" adapter. Mine was in great looking condition, and still sound great today. They're fine unamped, but can sound even better with one (i'm using a Rockhopper PIMETA).

these are VERY good headphones...definitely in competition for the "best headphones <$150" crown.

read some reviews on headphone sites (NOT on computer/gaming sites...no offense but most of those people have no basis for comparison with good headphones) such as headphone.com & head-fi.org. i've demo'd these and thought they compared impressively to my HD580s; not necessarily better or worse, just different. my HD650s are still most definitely superior, but at 3x the price they'd better be

did i mention they are so comfy you can fall asleep in them? trust me, you won't regret this purchase.

Apparently when sennheiser reconditions their headphones they replace headband and earpads, but leave old drivers in. At least that's what I heard. If that's true then there should be no burn in or at least much less than when you buy them new. On the plus side you get new pads and headband so you know nobody but you touched them, but on the negative side it's possible that your headphones were used by a smoker which can be really bad if the owner used them while smoking for frolonged periods of time.

Let me spell it out for you oh wise one since you couldnt figure it out.

I want to know who bought these REFURBS and what condition they arrived in. You know, so I can perhaps buy them myself next time they have some in stock?

Is that ok with you mommy?

I bought a pair of Sennheiser 545?s a few years ago that were refurbs. Got a great deal on em, under $100, totally fine. I figured they got tested more thoroughly from Sennheiser than a new pair ever did.

Last week I got a new pair of HD555?s. My 545?s are still going strong but the 555?s have a cord only on one side and my old set has one for each ear and got tangled up in gaming sometimes.

Anyways got the 555?s new for $105 from lcdtvs.com shipping from NY to CA was like $10. Best deal by far I could find. The 555?s sound great with games, mp3?s music CD?s, I love em.

The 497 and the 595s are in a completely different league. I think the 555/570s are good entry level cans, but most would consider even them to be junk.

Lol most people would call the 555?s junk? Most people /= 1% of elitist snobs in the audiophile world. Far from top of the line but pretty great sound for $100-150.

Here?s a nice review of several sets:
http://www6.head-fi.org/forums/showthread.php?t=78470

Anyways was just relaying my personal exp with Sennheiser refurbs and offering my opinion on my 555?s. Shoot me.

Yes I did read it. ONE person said they were good so let me plunk down 135+ based on ONE opinion? I would love more opinions if thats ok with you?

Addy how are the 555's for gaming? Can you pinpoint players around walls just based on sound?

thx

The 555s are very similar to the 595s, and are both fine for gaming. Think of the 555s as the "value" version of the 595s. I can't give u the exact sounding differences, but that's what i've read from reviews at HeadFi. U dont need 100$ headphones to guess where enemies are behind walls if you're playing CS. U can do that with cheap $25 Plantronics, or any other headphone. Pinpointing players behind walls just require u to judge their distance by the volume of the footsteps, and u knowing what the enviornment exactly looks like.

Yeah but my current headphones just blow and they make my ears sweat like mad cause they are the closed design.

I know senn makes some comfortable cans and the open design will allow my ears to breathe. What sucks is nobody around here has them so trying em out is out of the question.
