turn your monitor off, hold down menu and +, and turn it on while doing so. let go of them and then go to the menu. should say right away if its AUO or SMG, then go down to Factory Reset within the menu, then select Factory to see which model.

So I picked it up from DHL today, and it is in fact a Samsung! Yippy!

Whats the return policy of Dell? Just wondering to ask the AT forum for those that have dealt with them recently regarding a return/exchange for their AUO monitors. Hopefully, I don't have to do it. I got one more coming in next week, and yes... viewing angles are small compared to my 1905FP at work.

Meanwhile, with those connect via DVI, how did you deal with contrast since the LCD's toggles are off with it on that config? TIA

oh well, im fine with the AUO. It's really not all that bad, VERY minor ghosting (to the point that you have to TRY to find it in order to see it). Besides, what more can I ask from a $255 monitor?

2nd edit: well they called me back and they gave the exchange an OK.. I'll let you know which 2nd LCD i get when it comes

I basically had to teach them that there are 2 different panels (three including that second samsung?) that comes with the 1907. be sure to explain to them that when you say "panel" you mean the actual lcd, not the 1907 exoskeleton (yea.. they're that noob). I told them that mine was an AUO with 500:1 ratio while my friend's was a samsung w/ 700:1, then i went on about saying that they sent me the "wrong panel" because AUO's site claims that its 500:1 rather than the advertised 700:1. After some haggling and BS'ing, eventually they will file an exchange, they will send you a new monitor, and you return your old one with the new box you get.

heres hoping the second one is a samsung I will prob get it early next week.

PS. I played about 4 hours of HL2 single player and found the quality on the AUO to be acceptable and clear.. like I said before, I had to try hard to cause ghosting to see it. so i wont be THAT ticked if the 2nd one I get isn't a samsung =P

Cool. I might try to switch. Just to summarize so far...

* People getting at least two different versions of the 1907FPt. One is the AUO M190EN04 V5, and the other a Samsung/SMG LTM190EX V4T05.
* Possible Dell exchange for AUO to Samsung because of contrast-ratio advertised on their site says 700:1, but instead is 500:1 on the AUO. Also, the AUO has a brightness of 270cd/m2 vs the 300cd/m2 advertised on Dell's 1907FP tech-spec page.

I just installed mine. It is an AUO. It still looks pretty good, but I filled out the online "shipped me the wrong product" page. We'll see what happens.

I e-mailed Dell's Order Support and was able to get the $17 difference (since the price drop) credited to my card! YMMV.
Still working out the problem of them shipping an AUO panel that doesn't meet the specs....

I haven't seen anyone mention these specifications before.

I ordered two (one for me and my wife) and got one of each. We replaced are old 19? CRT?s with the Dell 1907FP to save room. We play lots of games with NO Ghosting at all, great monitors.


Does anyone know what the difference between the two are?
