I am almost positive it's when the order was placed. As long as we get the card before March 6 then we're fine.

I just called 4:50PM Central and spoke to Michelle. She said they are not showing any expected date for their new stock.

Concerning the rebate...From the way I understand it, as long as your order date was in before 2/10/05 and you get the rebate information sent off before 3/06/05 then you are fine. That's just my guess though. I could see Outpost screwing their customers by holding off on the restocking until after the 6th to either force us to cancel orders or lose the rebate option. That would not surprise me at all.

My original plan was to wait for the X800 XL to reach it's MSRP $299 point at the stores. I figure by the time Outpost restocks the XL will be that cheap. I just checked Newegg and it's getting there. Just $70 more to go.

I just did some more thinking about that. I might just cancel my order and go with the $370 X800 XL. That is a huge might though. In principle I don't want to pay $70 over MSRP for a card. But I really dislike rebates and Outpost worries me a little. I guess it's more to think about. But the X800 is PCI-E and dual DVI. Oh wait, it's the VIVO version. I didn't really want that.

Based on that email from Outpost.com which ozias1 posted I'm glad I canceled my order. The reason I canceled is because I was able to get a slightly used BFG 6800GT on eBay for $296.00 plus shipping!!! I recently saw another eBayer get the same card for $303.00 plus shipping. But happy those who got the 6800 ULtra for $350.00 plus shipping and didn't have to pay a stinking tax like I would of had to pay for!!! It was that extra $32.00 in tax which prompted me to try eBay!

I think I am going to cancel in the morning. This is a sign for me to go back with my original plan to build a PCI-E system. I have not decided on the Powercolor X800 XL VIVO or to see if I get a regular ATI X800 XL from CompUSA this weekend. I heard rumors that CompUSA will be selling them in the stores. Who knows.

More Outpost strangeness... After reading the above, I too was going to cancel... I just now called Outpost to cancel it, and they told me it had infact shipped today... I never received an email about either not getting the rebate, or an email that it had shipped, so go figure... I asked the service rep about the rebate and if I would still receive it, and she said yes...

I ordered mine FEB 05, 2005 11:14 PM, and the email I posted earlier I received Feb 15th.

Since on my order history page at Outpost states it's still backordered(as of this moment), I am curious if they just got some people taken care of or if the majority of us that ordered will be out of the loop.

I may do the same thing as mulder, cancel and go the PCI-E route instead.

Mine still showed Backordered this morning and I did order late (the Monday after). Anyway, I just had them cancel it. I am going to go back with my PCI-E plan and hopefully find a good deal on a X800 XL. Good luck to those who still have their orders. I hope you get the card.

I ordered at about 8:30 AM PST on Feb. 5th. I should have gotten in on the initial order, but Outpost held up my order for some reason, and they were out of stock by the time they got my order straightened out.

Well, I just got off the phone, 8:44 EST, with Todd at Outpost and they said they still have no idea as to when the shipment of cards will arrive, so I have cancelled my order and am going to go shopping for PCI-E.

GO OUTPOST! Finally got my BFG 6800 Ultra today...

FYI everyone, I purchased this deal on 2/6 at about 6:30PM, and though it was backordered I never cancelled. I paid for 2nd day shipping, and they shipped it yesterday, 3/9. Today was the last day to postmark for the rebate. Outpost used AM OVERNIGHT shipping, and I got it this morning. I went to the post office and mailed my rebate. So, while it was no fun waiting, it was still a great deal, and Outpost came through in the end.

I ordered mine on 2/9 so I'm glad I canceled because no doubt I would have lost out on the rebate. If only Outpost would have extended the deadline for the back ordered Ultras like they should have! Poo on Outpost for not doing so!!!

Outpost sent me an email on 3/8 saying the order would be cancelled unless I called to continue the backorder. On 3/11 the card arrived at my door, one day after the last day to postmark the rebate. Too much coincidence for me. I emailed their customer service, and will send the card back if they don't credit me $50.
