Dead Space 2 for PC Canceled

Well this sucks.

Unfortunately, like many things that go missing, Dead Space 2 appears to be gone altogether on the PC. Venerable game news site Blue's News is quoting an EA rep as saying, "As of right now a PC SKU is not in the plan." As of press time, the publisher had not responded to requests for clarification from GameSpot.
Dead Space 2's cancelation on the PC comes just a month and a half after it was officially announced as coming to the PC, PlayStation 3, and Xbox 360. However, the move isn't so shocking, considering the fact the original Dead Space sold under 40,000 copies at retail on the PC domestically, according to NPD Group figures.

Don't worry, just give it some time and you'll able to play Dead Space 2 with shitty controls on your PC. I'd guess around 6 months after the console release (considering it sells well) they'll contract out the PC port to some developer in India.

Can't say I really mind. I never even beat the first game - got more than halfway through, then I realized that damn near every level was some variation of coming to a new section of the ship, being told to do something, then finding out you can't actually do that until you go around the level picking up stuff/flicking switches/whatever to make some broken device work again. It was fun at first, but got old fast once the shock value wore off and I started expecting a monster to pop out of every duct cover I walked past.

The original FEAR creeped me the hell-out, i thought that was a fantastic game. I got bored with Dead Space, couldn't finish it.

Still, I think more and more PC games should go digital distribution only. The production costs are so much lower (especially for something like a port) that 40,000 in digital sales would probably make good money.
I've heard publishers and developers make statements that the cost of digital distribution is about a fifth of a retail presence.

I loved dead space, played it on PS3 but I could see it being fun as hell on PC as well. There needs to be a gamefly-esque service for PC, I NEVER buy a console game, just use gamefly

it was one of my favorite games. this is a game that can only be appreciated at night with the lights off and headphones or good surround sound setup. I usually get bored or frustrated with most games but this one kept me interested. also no hud and the way everything was integrated into the game added to the movie like feel.

Dead Space kicked ass. The combat was great with the limb-shooting and the different guns, it's replayable, the puzzles are interesting, and it's creepy as hell. And it's not buggy - always a plus these days.

If EA cold get their head out of their a** they would sell deadspace one for 15 on steam and they would make the money they need. Then sell DS2 for 29.99 on steam or impulse and would have a runaway hit. But nooooo it's got to be 59.99 or 49.99... grow up or go under. good riddance EA!

I'm with Max here. Dead Space was a solid horror-survival game. FEAR was just another standard FPS .. but oh wait, every once and awhile shit would fly around/ghost would show up. I thought FEAR was absolutely awful - though I did only play the first.

I finished Dead Space on the PC and thought it was decent,I did not like the controls much but sort of got use to them.

The game did not cost me much so I got more then my moneys worth.
I would of purchased Dead Space 2 when the price dropped,as to being cancelled due to poor sales well thats down to them and their marketting.

I think the 40,000 sale figure is too low to be the real value.

This does suck. Dead Space was fantastic. The atmosphere was incredible. As far as FEAR vs. Dead Space goes... I don't know how someone could claim one was repetitive and the other wasn't. You could say this about any game where you shoot things and solve puzzles. I just know I found Dead Space gripping all the way through, and FEAR quite boring after the initial excitement wore off.
