Update Concerning the Toner Cartridges
This afternoon I made a stop by my local Compusa, looking to see if they had any cheap GPS's [no luck ]. While there, I wandered back to where the printers are displayed and discovered a Lexmark 210 and an Samsung 1210 sitting side by side. Taking advantage of the opportunity, I popped both of the puppies open and removed the toner cartridges for a detailed comparison. The result is one of those "good news, bad news" situations, as the cartridges are identical, except for one important difference ! :
There is a offset between the two units dealing with a recessed area on the top right, which matches a metal flag and pin internally in the printers. I will try to describe the layout, size and position of this area on the two cartridges. In each example your visual point of view is looking at the unit from the top, in the same orientation that you would hold the cartridge as you were inserting it into the printer.
Samsung:
The notch is 12mm wide, with the right edge 60mm from the right end of the cartridge. Measuring from the right edge of the notch, the first part of the notch is 15mm long, and 6mm in depth from the top surface of the cartridge and about 4mm wide, with the next area of the notch 12mm long, 3mm deep, and 8mm wide.
Lexmark:
The notch is 20mm wide, with the right edge 48mm from the right edge of the cartridge. Again, measuring from the right edge of the notch, the first part is 20 mm long and 13 mm wide and the second part is 15mm long and 7mm wide. The notch has a uniform depth of 6mm.
As best as I could tell, if one was able to either adjust or remove the internal "flag" and pin, you would be able to use the cartridge from either printer in the 210. I haven't even had the time to unbox mine yet, but maybe I'll have time later to examine the units innards to see if modification is possible, and to what extent.
