My friends and I ordered a bunch at ~2pm on Saturday. If you make a new customer number with a different phone number, you can order multiple drives Among the guys on my floor, we ordered 7! They said the drives would come on Wednesday. I'm not worried about the rebates because I already registered them with rebatecenter. The clock is ticking.

When I placed my two separate orders Saturday morning, both went through fine but both CSRs told me the order is subject to corporate approval yet.

Mine's scheduled for tomorrow... crossing my fingers. I told the CSR that "this seems like an exceptional deal that my neighbor mentioned to me. I wish I knew how he finds out about these things. BTW, is there any chance that there'll be so much demand for these hard drives that they'll run out of stock and my order will end up back-ordered?" His response was to assure me that I'd have the hard drive on Tuesday.

I was too due to the extreme hold time of > 1hr on Saturday. It turns out that thier main weekend call center in Canada was closed due to a major blizzard and that is why they had the apparent huge call volume, but was really just a 'skeleton crew' of CSRs in the US trying to handle the usual Saturday calls. I asked the CSR I talked to if they had had a lot of orders on this drive and if he thought they might run out of stock.

His answer "Highly doubtful, our system keeps tallys on current orders and stock available so you shouldn't have any problems."

Don't worry about the drive being out of stock. Staples inventory system is generally accurate, and the drive still shows as being in stock and orderable today (meaning that I will be getting my drive on time this week).

It already is a hot deal, even without the rebate... under 50 cents per GB out the door. (or at the door in the case of delivery)

I was looking at Ebay to see if I could grab a 2nd one cheap if there was a flood of ebays on this... I saw one on there where the seller was going to include a receipt and had some reference to a mail in $30 rebate... at Maxtor. I'm sure someone's looked by now, but could it be possible that there's a 30 at Maxtor too?!

I think the printable MIR at Staples is a manufacturers MIR due to the wording:

Maxtor is not responsible for late, lost, misdir....... Maxtor recommends you keep a copy of all m..........

just got mine in the mail from when i called on saturday....my receipt says $148.38.... but when i called in over the weekend to apply a coupon they kept insisting that it was at a special price. Does this sound right that they credited my card $80 some dollars but it doesnt show on the receipt or on the online status?
