Ok, sorry about presuming shell was not available, I'll give you an email on that.

I'm not thrilled (pun intended) about memory on these boxes, though. 512mb = swap-o-rama. Memory is so cheap now a days to not have >1gb in a server is inexcusable.

Current Memory Usage
total used free shared
Mem: 514004 496484 17520
Swap: 1052216 96492 955724
Total: 1566220 592976 973244

Please let us know how that goes. Another AT'er has had difficulty installing coppermine pichosting on ThrillHost's servers, mine is currently on dathorn with no problems.

it was resolved, to a point. They just could not get imagemagick working correctly with coppermine on the box I'm on. They confirmed that imagemagick was installed correctly by testing it with another pic hosting service, but it just wouldn't work with coppermine. So I'm using GD 2.x now with it and it appears to be working just fine. I uped some vacation pictures to my site and it looks to be handling it just fine.

I just noticed the slideshow feature. That's awesome.

just one beef with it, I did a batch load, and it sorted the pictures in file name descending order. ex. the pic1.jpg is the 9th of 9 and pic9.jpg is the 1st of 9. Anyway to switch that? Kind of stupid having the last of the pictures first. ah. looks like in the last added part, it goes in reverse order. last one first.

well, coppermine works for me on thrillhost.. they had gd2 running, and i'm too lazy to ask to have imagemagick installed

but for some reason, i can't register in firebird.. it keeps looping the "i agree" page. but on the neffing pics, i can register fine in firebird. any ideas?

www.snipid.net/coppermine if you'd like to try and let me know (don't bother uploading anything important... i'm deleting and doing it again later)

***edit***

ah, looks like there's a problem in the code for the register.php file... http://coppermine.sourceforge.net/board/viewtopic.php?t=275

so yeah, coppermine seems to work fine under thrillhost for me.

Don't they have too many of this same special, like every couple weeks? I almost want to sign up, but was turned off by all the too good to be true specials.

This is the 3rd Linux special I have been aware of.

If you're concerned about the frequent specials, then don't sign up.

Remember, you get what you pay for.

I got in on this deal but was wondering why would anybody buy their 1GB/20GB linux shared hosting when for the same money they could get a 3GB/30GB reseller hosting account. Their pricing doesn't make much sense. Even now when the sale is over the $15 shared hosting has 2GB/30GB and the cheapest reseller account for $15 has 3GB/30GB.

Am I missing something?

I think we should make people aware of that fact. If this is anything like those Cyberwings crazy sales, then you won't get what you paid for. I have a funny feeling this special is going to come back real soon.

This was not a new special. This was the conclusion of the original which was put on hold so that more capacity could be brought online first. We wanted to be sure those who were unable to get in the first time had a chance to do so. This was explained on our site and was not placed anywhere else by us. We do not control what others decide to post.

Also, I would appreciate you not comparing us to cyberwings as you are using pure speculation in your comparison. We never have, nor will we take an action such as was witnessed by the clients of CyberWings. It is unfair to suggest even a similarity when there are no facts to back it up.

Our clients can speak for what we offer and the level of our performance. That speaks much louder than those who do not use our service and choose to try and discredit us with their "feelings". If you choose not to sign up, that is fine, we wish you luck with whomever you choose to go with, but comparing us to cyberwings is inappropriate.

Our primary focus is resellers which is why you see a difference. Add to that the fact that there are very few single domain sites with storage needs of over 2 GB. Resellers tend to use more storage which is why more is available in those packages.

Cyberwings has a year under its belt before it went under. I don't think CEO Shawn started posting anywhere until the word got out how great his hosting company was. I am NOT saying you are CEO Shawn. I am just pointing out the obvious similarity, that you have 3 sales in about a month, that your price is so low that nobody else can touch, so people can decide.
I still can remember how CW defended itself by saying how it's trying to gain market share, how people all went crazy about that hot deal, and how everyone sweared by CW until it disappeared.
If you a running a legit business model, there is no need to defend yourself here.

Well if you had read my post, it was not three but you can continue to ignore that. We were not the ones that posted it here.

People asked questions, do I not have the right to respond? All companies will defend themselves when someone tries to infer that they are somehow related to a company that was fraudulent.

You are using an experience with another company to judge mine and that is not appropriate. If I made similiar claims about your business with no actual knowledge of the business structure, would you not address the false claims? I believe you would.

If you have proof of your claims, I welcome you to post them. People can certainly decide for themselves, but to do so they need to have all the valid information, not baseless accusations by someone who has never used the company. You can dwell on the past all you want, but I choose to go forward. If you had a problem with cyberwings, then deal with them.

Many companies can touch our prices and even charge less than we do. $0.50/GB is quite competitive in todays hosting industry.

The only thing I can say to those looking at us, ask our customers for real feedback on what we offer, they have real information to base their comments on.

Id just like to chime in here if i may...

I've been a customer of Matt's (ThrillHost) for a few weeks now or so now and i have nothing but the BEST to say about his service & support.... The speed in which Matt responds to support tickets is phenominal, sometimes i've even had a responce within 2 minutes of supporting a ticket. Not only is he fast with his responce, but he's also thorough, even taking the time to mail me a screenshot when i wasnt able to pull something up.

His servers are fast, and through my experiences thus far, quite reliable.....

What else can i say, i highly reccomend them....

And allow false accusations to be posted? Sorry, I care too much about my business to allow false claims to be made about it and not defend it. As I said, everyone can decide for themselves, but should they not have correct information?

That post wasn't directed solely towards you, they know who they are.

I have asked the Mods to please lock this thread.

All same sale with different end date?
More from WHT
Your pricing is certainly aggressive.
Many companies can touch our prices and even charge less than we do. $0.50/GB is quite competitive in todays hosting industry.
If there are so many other companies that charge less than you do, why should we sign up with you. This thread exsit because your price cannot be beat.

You stated 3 in a month. You posted two that occured in September/Early October.

The one at WHT was in July.

Why go with us rather than someone cheaper? Our clients can answer that one for you.

Don't get me wrong, I appreciate your concern and caution. I have no problem discussing it, but when you compare us to a fraudulent company, I am going to respond.

This thread exists simply because Rossman started it. Of course it's a risk, it's the game you play with low cost hosts. Are you trying to enlighten us or merely share the pity of what is "your life."

I don't share my life. May be you will like to share yours. I was just one of the smarter ones that pointed out CW is going to go under while everyone else in this forum tried hard to come up with a sound business model for CEO. And I don't follow anyone's lead just because ... (you can fill in the blank)

What you might expect to pay for a similar package

It's $10, my expectations are exactly where they should be. I'm well aware of what packages should cost.

If you want to learn about my life join me in OT, but don't say I didn't warn you.

It was the same mentality with CW. Remeber how many people lost hundreds and even thousands when they first only spent $4 on an account? It was because all those people in the CW forum that said how great a deal that was. BTW, I am not interested in your life.
