What Happens When A Customer Decides They Don't Want Something ....After They've Opened The Box?... We have a problem. What do we do with these opened, but UNUSED items? After all, once the seal is broken, they can't be re-sold as "new." But in reality, they ARE new and unused...

Has anybody tried this with higher-end headphones? My Rio Volt can't drive anything over 32 ohm (tried it with Sennheiser HD495 and HD500, both were really quiet even at full volume), so I could use something with a better headphone jack.

Does anyone know the model number of this (e.g. DAP-xxxx)? It isn't very clear if it comes with 0MB or 32MB internally and is shipped with a 32MB SmartMedia card... the page sorta says both.

Still a great deal. Here's the $59 one: Link

They're slightly different model numbers, but I don't know the difference between the two.

Has anyone had any problems with this mp3 player. I am thinking about buying it, because it seems like such a good price. But I've heard some bad reviews about poor quality construction. Any input would be appreciated.

Thanks

Ordered mine before they sold out....shipping was almost $10 though..:frown: The order status shows that it's been shipped but I still don't have a tracking number. Anxious to see what it's like when I get it. I guess I'll be looking for a 128MB SM card. Anyone know of any good deals out there???

goggleax -

Thanks for the helpful site. Now, I just have to decide if I want to spend money!!

Codeloss,

Fry's has a deal right now on 128mb Smartmedia cards. I think they were around $50 in the ad today in the LA Times.

I concur that Newegg.com does have the 128 mb smartmedia cards for a pretty cheap price (I think it was $43 last I checked) and there were reviews that it worked just fine with Nomad II players.

I ordered one of those Nomad II (with 32 mb onboard) from Tigerdirect at the end of the year and it came about a week later. While I didn't have much shipping info during the time everything was in transit (and didn't get much of an email response from tigerdirect when the tracking # they gave me didn't help), I got my package within a reasonable amount of time and everything seemed to be in order. I like the Nomad II compared to the IIc that is also sold at Tigerdirect.. the headphones and remote are a nice touch as well as the FM tuner which seems to be pretty handy as well. I haven't had any problems with the volume control not being loud enough like a few people mentioned somewhere before... I need to play around and bang this up more to get a feel for it though. I had a little trouble here and there with installing the software, but there seemed to be plenty of help on the internet as well as a little from Creative's customer support and I had that problem cleared up.

Now I'm just waiting for my smartmedia card to arrive from Newegg.

i have a strange feeling that the original Nomad II posted at first is the model with 0mb onboard. i don't know if anyone else noticed in the product descriptions at the top, but for the original link it read:
"Creative Nomad II Digital Audio Player Open Box" (note the missing "32"). however, if you look at the $59.99 Nomad II, you'll see the product description reads: "Creative Nomad II 32 Digital Audio Player Open Box" -so i dunno... what do you think??? i guess $49.99's still not a bad price for the 0mb model, although i got the same model for the same price on that emusic deal a few years back (that was extremely hot)

Well...I ordered the $49 one. It was shipped yesterday and the tracking number sent to me works. May get it by Monday if UPS can keep it on track. I plan to order a 128MB SM card anyway so I really don't care if I don't get a 32MB card...but it would be nice to have it though. When the package arrives I'll post what's included.

I just received my Nomad II from Tigerdirect this morning. That was some quick shipping!!! Anyhow, Tigerdirect says that the Nomads are "open-box" but they are in fact factory sealed refurbished units. I don't know which is better but I hate tigerdirect's play on words.

Here's the contents:

USB cable 1.5m
refurbished mp3 player
remote, mp3 player
headphone
nomad II quick setup guide

Well...just rec'd mine today. NO 32MB Smartmedia card. I guess that's OK because I just wanted to have one 128MB card anyway. Just ordered that from newegg. Definitely a refurb unit (not "open box" as described on tigerdirect's site)...there are scratches on the unit....everything else looks OK. I guess I may need to add to the reports on resellerratings...

Got mine today and as expected (based on other people's comments), no smart media card. Frankly at this price, I don't care. I'll just buy a Smart Media Card (gotta love Newegg.com!).

Mine is in perfect condition except for one scratch. It looks like an intentional scratch of about half an inch across the battery cover. I think Creative does that to mark it as a refurb (like Ross or TJ Maxx has shirts with the tags cut in half). It is not enough to bother me.

The only other thing I note is that the unit does *NOT* seem to be compatible with the Nomad Docking station. I pull of the rubber piece on the bottom and there's nothing there. There is supposed to be a port for the docking station to make contact. Again, for this price, I still don't care.

I suppose the principle of the situation suggests I should be po'ed that it didn't come "as advertised," but I think the time I'd spend trying to get this resolved is not worth the price of a $12 32 Meg Smart Media Card.

So, good deal, but not GREAT deal.

TigerDirect strikes again! I got my MP3 player....no headphones, no remote. I call, the guy on the phone goes "Duuuuuhhhhhhh, you not supposed to get headphone. Ug!" I said I had a printout of the webpage and in the "What's in the box" list, it says Bass reflex headphones and a wired remote. The CS monkey goes "Duuuuuhhhh....me have to verify with manager. Me make sure you have it in 5 days."

Yeah...we'll see.
