(Dead) Tivo almost FAR at Radio Shack B&M only

Any one know if the HD Tivo can still record like previously mentioned after cancelling service?

fuck tivo. i thought this was a techie forum. windows media center all the way baby. 1.5tb limit on storage? PFFF! online scheduling, who cant do that? can you upgrade the standard tivo to HD, no! can your tivo play video games? no! monthly fees? hahahaha i feel tivos are for tools! no to knock anyone though, but this is a tech forum, where are the homebrews at?

I just wanted to get something to record my HD channels that are being received on my vizio without a cable box, or without a subscription...

isn't that kinda homebrew? or a lo-fi set up?
I just dont wanna buy it and find out I need to pay a restocking fee or something..

Some of us, ie, me, couldn't care less about your "homebrews". Oh look, another first person shooter, it's so different from the others. My new Tivo will hold 80GB of shows, that's probably 75GB more then I will ever need. As a whole, I think TV sucks. Even the news is filled with gossip and other useless crap.
At least I can record a movie and watch it at my convenience without paying a monthly fee because of this hot deal. So there!

Has it occurred to your myopic dump @ss that although this is a tech forum, not everyone wants to do everything "homebrew"? I am perfectly capable of installing MythTV on any number of Linux distros. However, I choose not to. As a single dad to a 6 year old, time is a more precious resource than money. I rather spend my time playing with my daughter than setting up Windohs MCE or MythTV. I can always make more money, but I can't make time. As for your reasons for MCE, well, 1.5TB of media and games are for those don't have real responsibilities. I am not one of them. I simply need to time-shift football games on Saturday when I take my daughter to dance class. An applicance like Tivo will do me just fine.

As 1Cheap2Crazy has already said; take you myopic, thread-crapping @ss else where.

Didn't the "flagship Series 3" just get released ~ a year ago?
The "mid-grade S3" wasn't released until this year. So it may be some time before those Subs run out on someone willing to potentially "brick" their box. I couldn't find anything though.

So did you mess with this link or the PDF it pointed to? becuase it used to say purchase from April to December. I sent the rebate in and they told me it was outchased outside of the validity date. Your link now points to a PDF that shows August instead of December, so either you messed with us, or Radio Shack changed the pdf in the link.


EDIT: nevermind, you're jsut the messenger, I located the thread at FW and they do talk about RS changing the rebate in december

My Expereience w/ Radio Shack Rebate.

I had a heck of a fight with RS rebate center about the rebate, the rebate center was no help, but I called the district manager and got her to see what she could do, she called back 2 days later saying she got nowhere with the rebate people as well, but that she would give me a RS gift card of equal value (I had bought 3 boxes). Used it towards a LG LCD after christmas.

Just something to try if you have given up on the rebates.

Yes, there does appear to be a problem with the RS rebate. Weeks ago I noticed it and called the rebate house, they fixed it. It's still in processing so I don't know if I or others are going to get our money.
If you want to waste a day reading look for tivo at FW, listed under Deal Discussion. They offer some more tips on whom to contact. I'm still waiting a few more weeks or until the status of my rebate changes before I complain to RS.
But my Tivo works! and I get back $170 soon. Sweet.
