Great price, DVI, free shipping, 19" LCD. Only thing is the name-brand, as I've never heard of it (Tyris brand). Thinking about picking one up myself!

I was about to get the Fry's deal Monday but this one has better specs and the Fry's rebate seems to be a horror story

The specs look good, and so does the price, AR. But what it really comes down to is would you be ok with paying $233 for it? A lot of LCD manufacturers are known for not coming through with rebates or taking up to 6 months to deliver, and this is a relatively unheard of company. The rebate will most likely be offered on and off for the lifetime of the product if it's anything like the other LCD deals Newegg usually offers, it's probably a good idea to just hold off on buying for a couple months and see how the rebates get handled.

Pixel policys are based on a standard - not Newegg. 8 or more indicates it is a Grade 3 panel (I think) and that is average for cheap monitors.

*I* take issue with any reseller that indicates; "** This item is warranted through the product manufacturer only." Especially when said product is from a virtual no-name manufacturer. No DOA at all?

Will "Tyris" be around if there IS an issue?

You know newegg dosen't individually test out all returned monitors before sending replacements, plus some dead pixels can be intermittent. They aren't going to check for 8 dead if you only have a few, although I know yes yes moral pedestal etc etc

it does have DVI but it doesn't look like it comes with the DVI cable (not shown in the pics and mentioned in the reviews), not that big of a deal, especially for the price, going to try and convince my parents to ditch their aging CRT.

The biggest weakness of this monitor (IMHO) would be the viewing agles. Although poor viewing angles aren't a bad thing if you can set it up right for yourself, just don't expect this to be a monitor that you could get a group to sit around and watch something, it won't be very enjoyable.

If you guys are worried about the no-name brand. I think Dell are running a few sales with coupons for their 19" LCDs for around $236...not sure if that includes shipping though, and they might charge you tax. I think I'll pass since I'm pretty low on funds now, and I don't even have a desktop to use this with, just a laptop. Good luck to those who ordered, seems like a pretty good deal
