I'm not sure if this really qualifies as a hot deal but what the hey. I've been following the info on WoW for some time, neglected to sign up for beta way back when though so havent been able to play in the beta up till now.

Basically the deal on the stress test is that you can play for a week (with 100k other people, lol) as they test the servers to see if they can handle the load. The stress test accounts are only good for a week, but it should be fun regardless.

Only thing that really sucks about it is the whoping 2gig+ dl and that its on fileplanet, I just left my comp running overnight. Stress test hasnt started yet, so you wont be able to play immediately but will likely start within the next week or so.

I also didn't sign up for the original beta, and have been pretty anxious to play this game.

you should get a key relativly soon. I think they're just slowly releasing them so not everyone tries to download. They're not going to start it until they ahve close to 100,000 people downloaded so you should still get in

Yeah, that's the only thing that sucks, and seeing as how I know nothing about the game it'll be interesting to see how far I can actually get.

As mentioned in the stress beta FAQ, there will also be a fully open beta later on, likely the last month or so before release. After trying a number of different highly-hyped MMORPG's (DAoC, CoH, SWG) and losing interest very fast, I'm now pretty much determined to not plunk down my cash for an online game I havent had the chance to try.

Of course, the downside is that the ones I have liked (EQ and Anarchy Online) sucked a frightening amount of my life away until they finally lost their charm. Hmm, maybe I'm better off not finding another MMORPG and losing another few years.

how does WOW compare to FFXI online? if any of you are playing that. I'm playing FFXI online and its becoming tiresome, since it takes forever to lvl.

Um...you kill things...talk to people...gain levels...acquire gear...and get tired of it eventually. Just like every other MMO.

ffxi is pretty tedious though, it hits a sudden jump in difficulty all of a sudden, and if you have one cruddy teammate, your whole parties exp is dead. And you sit waiting for hours for a party. And item costs get excessive.

I've heard WoW is more oriented toward casual gameness. like a wierd Diablo II hybrid with mmorpgs. But i haven't played it, just what i've heard.

That's why I'm interested in it. Apparently you can solo and gain XP at a good rate and there aren't uber items to be camped and throw PvP out of balance.

Was worth it for me, I mean... $10 a month and you get fast, fast fast downloads for betas, movies, etc.. It was worth it for me to pay it.
