I know Nero comes in the Cendyne box, and is completely upgradeable to the current version (at least it was on my XP Pro box).

I/O Magic rebates are problematic... they don't seem to fulfill unless you complain.
Polaroid is in Chapter 11.

Both times I did a Cendyne rebate, was about 7 weeks...

the iomagic 48x cdrw i bought from od was a benq. there aren't many (any?) reviews of the 48x, but i'll look
a way to tell is look at the drive on the front of the box -- afaict, they have started putting a picture of whatever drive is on the inside of the box on the outside...
